*** Official Video Game Thread ***

I'm hoping that The Last Guardian will be released next year, I'm also looking forward to the next GHod of War.

South Park The stick of truth looks fudging hilarious

Yeah forgot bout that. Looks like an actual episode.

I didnt mention The Last of Us or GHod of War as they are both PS3 exclusives and Im still toying with the idea of getting one on the very very cheap just to play these 2 games and GTA 5 6 months early. Also that new game by the developers of Heavy rain looks good... So thats 4 games plus still not played Uncharted 3 making it 5 games... Yeah thats reason enough right?

More Tomb Raider info... The more I see the more I wanna get it

Just spotted this in a PC magazine, due for release summer 2013 it's cqlled FireFall. Not sure if it's an MMO or if its a single player game where other players can jump in at anytime like on Borderlands. Boasts a huge free roaming map and seems to look a bit like Borderlands (even has the cartoon like graphics).
Will keep an eye out for this as it certainly looks interesting from what I've seen

Ok so with 2012 coming to a close whats your most anticipated games of 2013?

Mine (in no particular order) are:

GTA 5
Tomb Raider
Total War: Rome 2
Watchdogs
Metro Last Light
ArmA 3
Bioshock Infinite
Star Wars 1313

Some great choices there.
Some more I'm looking forward to dabbling with;

East vs West
Star Citizen
Project Eternity
Company of Heroes 2.

I pledged money to both games and, while they're a ways off, I am pretty damn excited about them.
I remember playing Wing Commander: Prophecy, which was the last in the series, but damn what a good game. Star Citizen looks pretty amazing in the concept videos, I have to say.

Here's some more Total War porn

With many games using Unreal Engine 3 such as Batman Arkham series, Gears of War, Dishonored, Borderlands, Fable, Mass Effect, etc. Its big news (and certainly the sign of next gen gaming on its way) when the new Unreal Engine is unveiled.
I know it was unveiled at this yrs E3 so a while ago now but for those that missed it here is a tech demo of what it is capable of. And yes it may be a tech demo but these effects and graphics can all be created in game... So pretty impressive.

A bit of a long video and no new screens or footage of GTA 5 but these 3 guys have seen the game in action and discuss what they have seen. Some interesting bits

Apologies for spamming this thread (well I like to think im "bumping" it not spamming) but I have just downloaded the new DLC for RAGE called Scorchers. Not played it yet but excited as RAGE was a game I felt had so much potential to be a huge hit! Especially its shooting mechanics felt really fun to play. But its biggest downside for me was it felt too short... I felt just as I was getting good at dispatching the mutants in more creative ways and really getting a feel for the game, it was over.

So DLC is very welcome, and quite out of the blue too. I heard nothing of this till a couple days ago but apparently this is content that was meant for original release but they didnt have time to finalise it. Its only 3.50GBP or 5USD but apparently adds some new missions, weapons, areas, a new even harder difficulty setting and a whole new mutant clan called Scorchers.

This has come at just the right time as Im close to completing FarCry3 now and wanna continue playing something of a similar genre. RAGE is just that. I hope this is the first of more DLC

I played it for a bit. Never got more than a couple of hours in. Found out about a game-breaking weapon that one-shot killed anything you came up against, namely that metal boomerang thing, so gave up trying. :p

As far as I remember, it was a standard post-apocalyptic shooter. What made it so memorable for you?

I pledged some cash too. SC's physics engine and spaceship navigation videos blew my mind, and I have fond memories of WC, as you evidently do. So it wasn't a hard choice.

Kickstarter's really come alive this past year, and long may it continue.

No one shot one kill weapons that I can think off other than the crossbow if u got a headshot. But I'd say that was pretty standard, certainly no gamebreaker. Yeah the boomerang was instant kill on the smaller mutants but you had a very limited amount so using them wisely was key.

For me it was the way the enemy moved, ducked and dived your bullets, rolled into cover. The AI was pretty good I thought. Plus the weapons really felt like they pack a punch. Compare that with the pea shooters of any COD game for example.
I also liked the wingstick (boomerang) and crossbow. And I do like the look of the new weapon the nail gun, which can be changed into a bolt thrower too that sticks enemys body parts to walls.

Overall the look of the world was very well done too. Visually it is stunning imo and one of the best looking shooters on the market even when compared with upcoming releases... If this is what DOOM 4 will look like then I cant wait!!
I personally wish it was more like the DOOM style of games tho. Just concentrated on doin what it does best which is FPS. The driving sections felt rushed and a bit, meh to me. But overall it was just too short as I said

The next game getting coverage on kickstarter is Godus, with less than 24 hours to go. It's by Peter Molyneux of Populous and Black & White fame...

I checked the gameplay prototype videos and I honestly wonder what the point of the game is. If all you're doing is manipulating land around your followers, it doesn't seem to deep.

This doesnt suprise me. The guy seems to always boast these groundbreaking new games that do something no other game has ever done, then doesnt deliver on that promise but because his games are good it gets overlooked. Remember Milo the interactive child for Kinect?... Ended up getting scrapped and replaced with Kinectimals.

Not to mention the "manipulating land around your followers" part sounds pretty much like a game on steam called DUST (I own it but not played it yet)
