What are the best strategy games? Old Civilisation before the stack movement controls was a great game. I tried a later version and it had lost some of it’s simple game play.

Used to love Imperialism. They were working on a more up to date version but the dev kept letting real life get in the way.

Colonization? https://www.civfanatics.com/civ4col/

I don't think I tried that. Could be interesting. Not sure you can go back. Whether it is still as fun today :)

What else is there? I haven't even played GTA beyond the initial birds eye view version. Got some catching up to do. What are the not to be missed more strategic games out there?

Yeah, there's a lot of backtracking towards the end, lots of finding secret hidden stuff and such to level up, but if you've leveled up all the way (basically if you have the unbreakable strength/heart charms and the nail upgraded to the max, I reckon you'll be able to beat all the bosses). I just beat the Hollow Knight boss and considered myself done with it (but only got like 90% completion), as the credits came and such, but you can upgrade your dreamnail to have 1800 essence, and then get a "awoken dreamnail" from The Seer, use it on the corpse down in the Abyss and get access to White Palace and the final final boss The Radiance (well, there's actually a dream world even after that where you can beat "Absolute Radiance", haha). I just didn't care to grind on any more for that (collecting all the essence needed would take a long ass time), felt like I was done with the game. :)

All those other games are Switch titles as well, yeah! :)

I've just defeated Nosk and the Collector, fully upgraded the nail and am over 80% complete. Think I clocked the colloseum during my last play through. Ready to take on the first 'final' boss now.

Nice! Good going. :) I've played a couple of hours of Hyper Light Drifter now, but even though it looks and sounds lovely, the gameplay isn't as compelling. It would've benefited from some text explaining certain things, as I have no idea what I'm doing most of the time.

Gonna try out Axiom Verge soon, looks fun. :)

This looks like cliched writing in a sitcom in which the normally very reserved and slightly geeky character is opening up on the subject of gaming to a more "normal" unsuspecting person. I really don't mean that as a criticism, it's pretty much perfect, it looks like peak writing from Freaks and Geeks....

I'd consider myself a nerd and I have absolutely no idea what game you guys are talking about. F***ing nerds. ;)

Haha, yeah, I know! I read it after having written it and thought exactly that, "this must sound incredibly geeky to someone who don't know what I'm talking about". :D

Steamworld Dig 2 is super cheap for the Switch on the eshop now. Solid game! Really addictive and a lot of fun.

Its very, very easy, but it's also just a joy to play. Lots to explore and lots of humour and funny missions to do. Definitely worth playing for a while!

I've obviously been out the loop for too long and lost all eye-hand coordination! On a laptop it is not easy to aim and shoot. And don't even mention driving! It does look good, love the film style segments. I need to get a mouse and learn how to drive gently. The lag on the car controls makes it difficult for me.

Been eyeing up one of these, has a dedicated graphics card (using a laptop with integrated graphics now which seems to work ok-ish). Annoying, the 14" i7-10 version with a Nvidia graphics card seems to be out of stock everywhere. The 15.6" one has a 4gb Graphics card, but I like traveling with the more compact 14" size machine. Check out the second screen on the track pad. Quite neat to play music or watch porn while doing something else!

Been on a gaming binge ever since I got a Switch around x-mas. Katana Zero, Guacamelee and Gato Roboto are all excellent games for Switch. Highly recommend all of them! :)

Must be getting old. Bought GTA5, Red Dead 2, Wolfenstein ages ago and just can't be bothered to play them on my Ps4. Even during these boring times all I've done is dig out my Ps2 classic collections to play golden oldies like Tapper, Joust, Missile Command and the like on my compatible Ps3. That and going back to Civ5 on the pc... again!
Edit.
Last games I played and really enjoyed were the Bioshock ones, if you haven't played at least the first one it's well worth getting IMO.
