Enjoyed (if that’s the right term) Adolescence. Very thought provoking. The young actor who played Jamie was very good, and I was pleased to see Ashley Walters again (not seen him since Top Boy although that might just be me missing things he’s been in). Stephen Graham goes without saying really.
But the fallout on twitter/X! Wow. A lot of people missing the point/ message. (Must admit I’ve fallen into the habit of clicking the “for you” tab on twitter, which really is not a healthy thing to do).

Scary ain’t it
Because it’s not a black kid…. It’s wrong… how the hell did they get to that conclusion

Well apparently the inspiration for the programme was based on the murder a year or two ago of the girl on the bus in South London, the killer being black. So this is a case of wokeness by making the killer a white boy (even though the scenario in the series is different to the event it is supposedly based on). And also that knife crime is perpetuated by mainly black kids.
Totally ignoring the misogyny, bullying and anger issues that were being highlighted. And the fact that “inspired by” doesn’t mean it’s meant to be a facsimile of the event that inspired the series.

And to add : the influence/impact of social media, which is something.that needs addressing, although I don’t know how.

As me and the wife said… the programme is all about who are the victims of the action. It’s to just the person killed
I don’t know nice crime stats but I doubt where that was based there are many black kids

3rd episode of Adolescence is up there with anything ever made.

I'm beyond amazed how they managed that in one take, the kid especially. Amazing.

I love the show, not just for the one take, it's also really well written and obviously executed. I read somewhere that some episodes took 15 takes. I'm amazed they even managed a single episode in one take. Can't imagine the amount of planning and rehearsing going into it.

Last episode of Severance season 2 was good too. I wonder where they will take it in season 3.

Have to say I was disappointed with this season of Severance in the end. Way too slow and too much filler just so they stretch it to ten episodes and can avoid answering questions. Episodes 4 through 9 could easily be told in under half the time. Really annoying how they start with something, then just put it on the backburner or have characters deliberately not tell each other stuff as it would advance the plot. That's just poor writing.

I liked it a lot, but agree that it had some pacing issues from about episode 4. Also, so many questions that could have and should have been asked by pretty much everyone - but it's a show with a wild premise, and the price you pay are always these kinds of plot holes. I get a bit of a Lynch vibe sometimes, and of course there are nods throughout, which probably means a lot of it will probably just remain a mystery. Which is fine, in my opinion.

Severance finished strongly, was a bit aimless and disjointed at times. I feel like you could take a concept from one Black Mirror episode and turn that into a show as good. Makes you admire the people who created and wrote that all the more.

Rewatching Curb and its top three comedies off all time for me. This is classic

Wouldn’t have it in my top three but agree that it’s a very good show. Watched the Siri clip multiple times, so much of the show is too relatable. Love how it is filmed with a rough idea of the general direction that it needs to move in and then let the cast do what they do best and improvise and it leads to magic happening on screen.
