I would say that they have padded the story out somewhat but that didn't bother me as i love the look/feel of the show and so the slower episodes aren't a problem.


The Shield is now on Amazon Prime, heard good things and so will make that my next watch - first episode gets things off to a good start.

FWIW I really enjoyed The Shield back when it was first broadcast on TV and it was one of the few series (alongside The Wire, Sopranos and Deadwood) that I purchased the DVD box-set of in order to lend discs to mates.

No idea whether The Shield has aged well over past couple of decades but if you’re a fan of Justified then should be up your street.
 
Watching the Oscar Pistorius/Blade Runner 30 for 30 docuseries on ESPN at the moment. Interesting viewing especially for those with ties to South Africa.

The headline in one South African newspaper on the day after the shooting of "Blade Gunner" was worth an award.

Not as good as Narcos. S1 of Mexico is good but S2 i just couldn’t get into it. Had it on in the background but wasn’t really paying attention.
I actually thought season 3 of narcos was excellent even in spite of Escobar’s absence. Pena is one of the best characters in the show and Pedro Pascal has gone on to great things since.
 
Ripping through season 5 of The Expanse. Awesome.

Saw it being described once as Game of Thrones In Space. Took a season or two to appreciate that, but it's true. Great plot lines, fun characters, well cast and terrific special effects. My wife and I have fun picking out the locations of where some scenes are shot, in and around our futuristic - and heavily arted-up - hometown of Toronto.

I came for the zero gravity sex scenes and stayed for the anti-gravity magnetic shoes.

Oh, and Bossmang, da belta patois an' tattoos.

I liked the Shield a lot too, watched it last decade and it had aged fine. It might not be a top, top tier show but it's a solid eight out of ten one for me. There are plenty of moments in the saintly Wire which are cheesy and over the top. I don't think the Shield was going for that realism, more cartoonish like Breaking Bad or Justified. There's a lot of art in that style too.

Just about to ask what channel this is on.....but have already watched it (its the lawyer with the itchy toes?:)).........it was (is) very good. Love Riz...done a lot of good stuff.
