We're 20th there because of the current tactics.20th in the ‘distance covered’ table but collectively yearning for a return to the high press? Ok.

Teams that don’t press have run more than usWe're 20th there because of the current tactics.
We didn’t retreat today. We have them 5 yards and didn’t press. We held our positionsdistance covered is bound to be lower with our tactics. We retreat into a compact shape
Teams that don’t press have run more than us
Teams that play long ball have run more than us
Teams who are woeful by prem standards have run more than us
There is a real lack of work in that side regardless of tactics
It’s why when skipp comes on we look better as someone actually runs in CM
It’s just words though, he was saying this wasn’t how he wanted us to play after the first few 1 nil wins as well. Jose said he didn’t want us to sit back after scoring the first goal yet we always did. Saying something and knowing how to fix it are different things.Seems willing to accept his share of the responsibility.
Will be interesting to see what he changes going forward. And how the players respond to this.
What I saw though, and neville mentioned is that we seemed to be going long from the start. We then conceded, and kept going long. Surely we could see that wasn't working. We only played a bit better when we had it on the deck. But then 2 nil down and effectively game over heads dropped.
Even at 3-1 (when I switched it back on) we didn't appear to be going for it. Unless we were going for it a bit earlier, it seems we lack the mental fight to come back into a match. Slow, slow, slow passing.
Its not enjoyable Football, but is it the players or is it tactics. Surely if it isn't working can't the players just say fudge it let's play a different way whilst they are on the pitch?

For alli we have other playersSkipp would be one of the first names I’d have on the team sheet. Last week when he came on v Chelsea, he busted a nut and put in a couple of great tackles as the rest were giving up. I believe he was excellent v Wolves and today he gave a brick.
I’d also have Tanganga CB.
Maybe this needs a Poch style “tear it all up and start again moment.” If it does, Kane and Alli are the two most in danger for me. It seems incredible to even think that about the pair of them given how key they were to our rise under Poch.
And that’s keyAfter Nunos interview today, it’ll be very interesting to see what he does next Sunday. He was basically saying that either his system was wrong or the players selected were not capable of carrying out his instructions/system.
That hints at big changes next week or it’s all just words. There was similar talk before we played Villa last year under Jose but, as I recall, while there were changes, they weren’t wholesale. If we show up with the same brick next week and lose, it’ll become harder to make a case for Nuno.

It's definitely the players - it's been the players for almost two years now but out of the last three managers we've had, Santo's system is certainly the worst. We're way too narrow and flat, particularly in midfield. I'm guessing the idea is for our CM to move wide when they receive the ball but the result is absolutely abject.
When we try to go through the middle, we can't play between the lines. Usually one of our forwards drops a little deeper but then, the other two can't find any space - again, because of our narrow set-up. And when they try to combine down the flanks, we don't have anyone except Kane's lookalike to head the ball in. Regardless of their heading ability, we just don't have enough bodies in the box to be a threat from crosses.
All in all, it doesn't make up for a very pretty picture. Apparently, he was pleased with what we did in the first three games but it's quite obvious that we couldn't keep that kind of run going with these performances. We're lucky to have 9 points.
Maybe he should drop a couple of players but I think this squad's rotten. Quite frankly, it's difficult to image that these are the same Kane and Son who looked unstoppable a year ago...
Wow
I don’t remember so I’ll apologise
I was quite happy with Fonseca
I said in January I wanted potter and only @StephenH jumped on that one
