Not necessarily.... our history is replete with useless transfer attempts that were obviously futile from the start...

Honestly cannot see this happening in a hundred years... Even with the 70mill euros, Como will lose the fulcrum of their team for only 25 mill (50% less the 10mill buy back next year)... plus the kid is obviously fixated on playing for RM. With his massive progress, makes it almost certain they will exercise the buy back. There may be a queue of central midfielders at RM but they are still crying out for someone in the Kroos mould - which this kid seems to be.

For me a bid for Khannous makes more sense. We realistically need someone mainly until Deke is back and then primarily for games vs teams applying a low block. Alternatively, Paqueta seems to be available for 60mill (maybe even including Biss in a swap https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-west-ham-make-move-to-sign-yves-bissouma/) and his all-action pressing style and passing ability should fit well into Frank's model...
Probably right. But we did hear similar things during the Tel saga in January.

Madrid just want to buy him for €9m next summer, so they can pocket the full €70m fee. Any hope they might have put in his ear is purely to that end. He might realise that still

Agree, the player himself sounds like he has no interest in moving to us. Add in the Fabregas factor and this looks like a no-go. Move on.
What Fabregas factor? Do you think he's going to go to the board and say 'Please don't sell him to Spurs for a huge amount of money, I hate that club?' Or tell the player we are rubbish or something? He plays for Como, and knows our captain pretty well and would know we've just won a major European trophy and in the CL. Fabregas is irrelevant in all of this...

I heard a report saying that he was promised that he will be keeping the players this summer that he wanted as he was wanted by bigger clubs in seria A… so maybe fabregas has a gentleman’s agreement Loool

Given that Fabregas is his current manager or coach or whatever you want to call it, presumably he has some influence.

This is probably more relevant that any hate he may have for us....

How come the young players we look at are all priced at least £40M-£50M when other clubs seem to get them in much cheaper? We aren't Saudi Sportswashing Machine FFS!
Who are you thinking of?

I think we're looking to shop in a rather exclusive category of young players. Proven very good at a high level with potential for further development.

We could go for another Bergvall type signing for example, but seem to be prioritising here and now quite highly. If we want to combine that with huge potential that's going to be expensive most of the time.

I guess we can still hope...

Most likely it seems like a dead deal and time for the club to move along to the next target.

Another to add to the "We Really Tried Summer 2025" list

I can picture Levy saying to fans at the annual Pro-ENIC event (fan forum) this September

'You have no idea how hard it is to sign players'

Whilst standing in front of a towering heap of failed transfers (Rivaldo etc etc etc), failing to realise that no one else in the game uses this excuse.

The clubs failure to get players over the line is as painful as its inability to win trophies.

Its like a broken record. My old man would always say 'take the need needle off' in such situations. Levy in contrast pleads poverty or shows vulnerability to keep it on.

We're all not perfect, I certainly know I am not, but the lack of accountability is equality frustrating and insulting.

After what I've seen from the first 2 games I think top 4 isn't a bad shout for us this season. But what I have seen from the second half of this windows makes 'challenging on all four fronts' laughable and could easily contribute to another unsuccessful attempt to win silverware and top 4.

Sounds like the player really wants to end up at Madrid so happy to stay for another year.

May be chartering on conspiracy theory territory but do you reckon Levy’s reputation as being difficult to deal with would be in a players mind signing for us? If we signed Paz and Madrid try to sign him in the next 2 years then Levy would be a nightmare for Madrid

Not bad shout. My view is more conspiracy theory. Levy does everything he can to try sign said players as a smoke screen, when the real aim is to sign the next Bale or Rodon diamond in the dirt.

Sounds way off, but doesn't feel it....

Lake como or tottenham? I know where i'd rather live.

Not at all
He thinks he may have a chance at Madrid… good luck to him
Madrid clearly sold him for a reason

I know its a joke but can you name me a player in the last 10/15 years that we missed out on that ended up being world class?
Off the top of my head, Cavani, Hazard, Mane, Winiijdum (for a period), some would say Ollise but I'm not sure how close we got to actually ever getting him.
