Man UTD want to make sure they have their coach lined up before pre season to get targets in. If they do get LVG then they will have him in the next two weeks as that is the limit he has been set by the Dutch FA and no doubt they will make the announcement then. Personally I see Giggs as his new protege and he could be there to settle the players and see out the end of the season, maybe even start them working on a program before then.

If though we haven't heard anything from Man UTD by that time then I think there is a very big chance that they have switched their targets and that we may still stand a chance of getting him. If reports are to be believed (various but nothing substantial), Levy has already had people looking at some of the young Dutch players that LVG would want to bring over (Clasie, Klaassen).

One thing I will say is that I can't understand how someone who is (reportedly) so egotistical is happy to be put on the back burner whilst UTD look at "better options". It must be killing the bloke. I'd encourage him to come here because he'd be viewed as a GHod, at UTD he'll be the 2nd/3rd choice bloke who will have his every decision questionned by a set of fans who want the league title next season.

Also, if this bloke has an ego and such big bowlax, then he needs to come here. If he goes to ManU and gets success, he's just achieving parity with what Whiskey nose did, year in year out.
If he comes to us, and get us in CL, consecutive years, silverware etc, he's got more to shout about imo.

Then you got the pull of London. That we probably have better raw players to mould into a team at the moment than united do - who need an overhaul of playing personnel. Only have to look at us this year to see the effects of too many new faces all at once.

But united is an elite job. Only one other club compares in size. And the pay packet will be immense.

Hopefully cooler Spurs will appeal. Levy needs to make him feel special and make him an offer he can't refuse. No doubt, if united want LVG, we're unlikely to feature. But stranger things have happened.

That's quite along the lines of his mindset. It's why he took the AZ job - to prove he could get success without resources.

I just can't see the Utd board giving Giggs the job past this season, surely it's too much of a risk.

The board will be looking to get straight back into the CL next season, having just witnessed Moyes fail when some questioned his appointment in the first place, it's likely they will elect for a Manager who brings with him a greater chance of immediate success, and this is why I still see LvG as favourite.

Still not sure van Gaal is right for us. I want loyalty, someone I can relate to and like, he doesn't seem that type.

I'll take him if it means Giggs gets the permanent job at Man U mind. That would be hilarious ha ha

United could come in for Sherwood. They always try and nick our best players, so it's only fair they take our 'best ever' (self appointed) manager. Over to you whiskey nose.

Louis van Gaal will go to Manchester United. The coach of the Dutch team did last night reached an agreement with the English club. Van Gaal (62) negotiated the last few days in the Portuguese Algarve, where he has a nice villa with Ed Woodward, one of the Glazer brothers and a lawyer on a multi-million contract.

The man that the absolute number one on the list of candidates for the succession of the dismissed manager David Moyes was, shall immediately after the elimination of the Dutch team at the World Cup in Brazil occurred in the service of the current champion of England.

Van Gaal wait a tough job, because he has to build. Completely new team Before that, he gets 100 million in transfer funds at his disposal. The initial recommendations for strengthening he has already done. The Glazer family, owners of Manchester United, have great faith in Van Gaal, who won at all the clubs where he worked prizes.

Van Gaal impressed

The Glazers had two weeks ago the first by Telesport revealed secret meeting with Van Gaal. In that conversation was Ed Woodward, the general manager of Manchester United. The top United was impressed by the football vision that Van Gaal on display spread. Then had to be diverted because the Dutchman would only talk if the club had arranged. Its act with David Moyes over a contract soon

This week flew Van Gaal at his villa in the Algarve. With a private jet delegation of Manchester United came a few days later. The leadership of Tottenham Hotspur was then already in mind that it would be in the battle for the signature of the Dutch top trainer. Chance Van Gaal also had a concrete offer from the Spurs to go after the World Cup. Started in London

Just saw the above on BBC news. He has close links with that paper and is known to be in bed with them when its needed. So. Next please?

Some hope remains:

De Telegraaf claiming Van Gaal deal is done. He's certainly in the running for #mufc but reliably informed nothing agreed, nothing done.

I'm edging towards Benitez now if we can get him.

As Dubai said in another thread he has won leagues/champions league/Europa league in recent times and I don't think his football is as boring as some would believe.

He's also young enough to build something at Spurs yet old enough to command respect from the senior players, also is a bit more 'media-savvy' than the current boss.

What a mess eh?

Well with LVG pretty much gone, all I want is for us to hire the right manager during the World Cup. We need them to have their signings done quickly enough so that pre-season isn't a waste of time.
