Nacer Chadli

I wish him all the best, he loved the club but like Townsend he didn't quite fit the mold. Personally I liked having him in the squad because he had the ability to do something that Lamela and Eriksen didn't.

I'm sorry to see him go. He could score goals out of nothing, and he put in some terrific performances along the way (with the highlight of course being that game against Chelsea in 2015). He's also a quality squad player at the top level, which can't be said for many other (predominantly young, inexperienced) members of our increasingly thin squad. I hope there are some signings planned over the last few days, or this season could get very, very ugly.

Goodbye, Nacer. And thank you.

(Incidentally, the whole period between West Brom registering their interest and securing a deal for 13m came in at about a week - compare that with our increasingly farcical attempts to make Himalayan mountains out of anthills with regard to the cheaper, lower-profile N'Koudou and that third-choice backup goalie).

Is this the anthill of changing ownership at the selling club who have been trying to renegotiate the deal with us? Not sure that makes us 'farcical'.

I think Nacer is another Siggy, very good player, scores goals, is effective and I'm sure will be a success for baggies. However like Siggy, the pace/workrate at which he consistently plays just doesn't suit our intended style.

Good luck to him, his goals were an important contribution to us.

Said it in the transfer thread, we better have a couple coming in, squad is starting to look really thin. I would double down on my ask for some experience as well.

And such a scenario doesn't occur elsewhere? Other clubs don't change owners mid-way through transfers? Just to make a comparison with how other clubs have dealt with Marseille (the same club we're apparently flummoxed by), in the time-period we've been after N'Koudou, other clubs have somehow overcome the *titanic* obstacle of Marseille changing hands and secured Batshuayi, Mendy, Lemina, and Dja-Djedje, with both Batshuayi and Mendy going for fees larger than what we're apparently prepared to pay for Gorgeous.

I stick by my choice of adjectives. Although, having said that, this probably isn't a discussion for the Chadli thread.

We need some goal scorers. Kane, Janssen, can Lamela, Eriksen and Alli score 10 each? Contribute in the CL? We're singling out players and its more about Poch finding the right balance for the team. Hopefully we replace Chadli with a goal scorer.

A couple of obsurd statements in that post.

I think you will one of many disappointed come Thursday morning. Can see more outgoing too, with the minimum coming back in. All the transfer incomings and Sky money is going into the stadium

tend to agree - if Leicester City are about to spunk £50m, its obvious we are sitting on the TV etc funds and shopping from the bargain shelf. Frustrating as once again we're not building on Champions League qualification.

We're building the club rather than the first team. I think that is the better long term option.

I am waiting for the 2016 versions of Saha and Nelsen to arrive while the unspoken 'we're saving money because of the stadium build' simmers in the background.
