Nabil Bentaleb

The Euros, World Cup and Confederations are every 4 years. It's inconsiderate to league play to host it every two years.

so you do mean big budget.

you do have a point but it caters to a world that ****s on another world as far as money and influence goes. maybe they can afford to wait every 4 years...and those contests alternate as well tbh...so they kind of happen every 2 years for countries like say england

one more thing

you saying its inconsiderate tot he league play...do you know when the first african nations cup took place? and do you know when the first PREMIER league game took place?

:D I noticed but chose to ignore it as I didn't see the relevance! ;)

edit:- the relevance is the most of the leagues we have today...aas they are came AFTER the cup of nations....even decades went by without the ACON being even the slightest bother till it became glaringly obvious the amount of untapped resources that was potentially there....then it becomes a problem cause the big boys might be without said resources for up to 5 weeks in 2 years

Spurs have won 70% of the 10 Premier League games Nabil Bentaleb has started this season compared to 30% of the 10 he hasn't

look i am not saying it isnt inconvenient, am just saying...deal with it suckers!!!!

chances are that they will be done in about 1 or 2 weeks, miss one or two league games and come back after giving joy to some people that have nothing but misery going for them

When it comes to the repeating ACN discussion, it essentially boils down to this.

i think we are forgetting that bentaleb was actually supposed to be the backup......now that he is ahead of the rest, his backups should be up for the task at hand. i mean come on...why did we buy those guys in the first place?

Do we know that he was? (Talking about this summer, not when Dembele, Paulinho and Capoue were bought).

Is it really inconceivable that we wanted Schneiderlin and if he wasn't gettable for a price we thought was fair Poch was going to show a lot of trust to Bentaleb?

But yes. Looks like Stambouli is next in line for the defensive midfield slot and he does deserve a run when Bentaleb is missing. We need another passer in the squad though, too think after Bentaleb and Mason.

Cabaye, Cabaye ... once again, Cabaye!

Him or Schneiderlin would be fantastic I think.

But failing that, no need to panic buy just to buy. Would rather keep trusting the kids with decent players like Stambouli as backups, and see the kids develop further as a result, than see us spend a lot of money on another player not quite good enough to improve us.

But that's not what he said, youre trying, painfully, to win this 'argument' that doesn't seem to be there! Youre incrediby defensive.

eh?

i know thats not what he said. but he was responding to something i said and he admittedly ignored what i said.

i am not trying to win any argument...i am indeed however defensive when people want to **** on a competition i, my country and the continent its situated in enjoy alot / look forward to just because they wont have their players for a few weeks. As if the world starts and stops with the local leagues and everyone else has to follow

this shouldnt be a surprise to you as i think you have been here for donkey's years and i do the same thing every time

how would you like it if someone comes up and says your country is **** cause you do things a certain way that inconveniences them...as if they have a right to dictate your actions

Makes sense that we are reportedly after McCarthy then really. Hard working, good passer. Is he actually getting any game time at Everton?

:ross:

The two couldn't be more different. Playing styles, intelligence, personality, ability, etc. They're at opposite ends of the scale on pretty much every measure.

But both believe in giving youth a chance. Kane and Bentaleb are such hits this season because Sherwood gave them playing time last season. He has played a big role in their now blossoming careers.

It is inconvenient, but comes with the territory

You buy African players or players with African heritage, then there is no surprise.

The club simply needs to plan for it.

I think this is more of a fan bitch than anything else.

Same thimg comes around every couple years and It's nonsense really - why should we expect them to change things for our benefit? Yes, it's an inconvenience and given the choice it'd be better for us if it was more in line with our season - but we have no right to question how they go about things.

We have to get on with it. Its a pleasure to have Bentaleb on our books, if he has to disappear every two years for a month then so be it.

Agreed.

And he seems a real character too (in a good way). Strong, dedicated, motivated, bit cynical when he has to. And he's obviously proud to be Algerian and feels that he identifies with that nation. I think that's part of what makes him who he is on the pitch as well.

nah you cannot slither out of this now

can we go back to that thread please!!!! i am starting to question what i read

i know that when you played bentaleb you gave him stick, period...and you gave him stick over capoue not sandro.

i am not insane, this happened....dammit man, admit this HAPPENED!!!:|
I'm not sure what you're saying.

That I gave him stick for playing Capoue or for leaving him out?

No, Kane and Bentaleb are hits because they're very good footballers.

Dimmeh just happened to be the loans to Swindon manager when our youth setup brought them through.

That's *******s. Your hatred of Sherwood is amazing

I know personally from my experiences of meeting players and directors and coaches at the club And Sherwood was involved heavily in our youth set up. He coached players, did 121s with some, set up loans with clubs that suited out style and stuck u for some who were not young to get a contract.

He also spent a lot of time attending the youth games to see the progress along with the loan team games.

He wasn't they messiah by any means and as our manager he spoke dribble (along with the truth)

He did whoever have a massive involvement with these youngsters that are coming through

The whole loan system that we use was one of his projects and was steered around making a player understand the value of paying his way in the game... It might be why we have some hard working players coming through rather than artisans show ponies

So he did a load of stuff that others were already doing very well and organised some loans.

He also spent a lot of time attending the youth games to see the progress along with the loan team games.

I should hope so. That would be a minimum requirement of a loans to Swindon manager.

He was at the club whilst some very good players came through. So was Doris the Tea Lady (or was she part of the Arnesen cull? I can never remember)

The loan system has been around for as long as professional contracts. Doesn't surprise me one bit that Dimmeh has tried to claim responsibility for it though.
