Moussa Sissoko

I struggle to see why we're leaving us short in CM and specifically cover for Dembele. If we aren't signing anyone, i would have thought Mason would get some game time this year. Maybe Poch has another master-stroke up his sleeve in keeping with Dier's conversion to being a DM

Cometh the moment cometh the Tom Carroll.
(Or is he off to Derby?)

As it stands Spurs are the only club to bid for Sissoko despite other interest. £25 million bid turned down this morning.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine turning that down...ugh. Hope they get screwed like West Brom did with Berahino. It's all very well standing up to the big boys but eventually those players will be counting down the days until their contract expires. Particularly consigning a player to a season in the Championship is quite harsh to say the least.

I quite like smaller clubs standing up to bigger teams, e.g. Everton with Stones last year and Lukaku this, but at least Everton have some sort of reasonable story they could spin about new money meaning they are primed for progress. It feels like West Brom were quite seriously cutting off their nose to spite their face with Berahino and Pulis knew it. He would have much preferred the cash and to get an unhappy player out of the club. It's going to surely very difficult to get Sissoko motivated for a season out of the top league.

I'm also coming round to the idea of Sissoko though. He isn't the same as Zaha but played behind the striker in that inside right position, he'll be good under Poch. Reading about his tactics, how he likes our players to be more central, he's going to be a good addition when recovering the ball and his pace will get the opposition back peddling. He will break the lines and Lamela and Eriksen will find him with regularity. Hope it happens. Kane/Jansen upfront, Sissoko/N'Nkoudo for the direct/pacey stuff, and a pick from Lamela/Eriksen/Son/Dele/Onomah for the ball to feet do something tricky stuff. Winksy/Onamah or Dele to cover Dembele in the middle, and never play Dier and Wanyama together again. We're gonna win the league.

Sissoko has three years left on his contract, Rafa Benitez wants to keep him. Hence the price tag.

If he doesn't go then he will have to knuckle down and get on with it.

Good luck with that Rafa... you will need it.

You could have Tiote instead for virtually nothing?

He would probably fail a medical mind.

Someone please just take him.

Not disagreeing, it's just I'm sure West Brom thought the same about Berahino. We thought the same about Modric. I think if you keep someone stuck in a place where they don't want to be for a year+ I don't know if you can expect to get the same level of commitment out of them. Maybe Sissoko will prove me wrong but the noises he has been making and his inconsistent form to date don't really suggest that.

There no way Levy would ever pay anywhere near £25m for a championship player that cost the selling club bugger all.
