Hmmm... fair enough.

I still think he lacks too much heart to be a good player for us. As brick as some of your managers have been, he wasn't the only player that had to play amongst that, yet he was often the worst for me.
He does have power and pace and if we were desperate for someone who could make the kind of long runs he does, i'd pay no more than 16M (yeah, i know...)
 
My money is firmly on Sissoko still being a Saudi Sportswashing Machine player come tomorrow morning.

Big tasks for Benitez to then reintegrate him into our squad following international break.

in which case we'll go into this season praying that Dembele doesnt get injured, in the same way that we were hoping about Kane and Dier last year. We've sold Bentaleb and Mason and need some more cover in CM. Carroll isnt good enough, Winks too young, and Alli doesnt have the temperament to play in CM yet

Alli played there with Dier when we beat City 4-1. I'm comfortable playing him there if Poch is.

I think we need to...frustrates me no end when we have a system that works and alter it because one player goes down. If Dembele is out we should at least play someone that can progressively pass the ball rather than a copy of the ball winner of they are playing alongside.

Tom Carroll won't be involved this season.

It looks like we won't be getting anyone, so we're just going to have to get used to it.

We will use dier, wanyama and dembele and have winks as an emergency if you like.

Given we've now qualified for the CL so have htat as a carrot to attract players, I was hoping that we wouldnt be in a desperate position come Aug 31st this year. I struggle to see why we've sold Mason and Bentaleb if we have no cover for Dembele lined up.
 
it appears you need to have CL and pay the wages,

Before, we didn't have CL, so it was a convenient way to explain why we didn't sign all those great players

Now, it's kinda obvious it's because we don't pay enough.

I earn less than a footballer; I'm not angry about it, and I'm glad we're frugal. But it's why we aren't signing these people, I bet you.

Yeah I have a feeling we are done for the day. It doesn't look like we've leveraged our CL status to bring anyone of note in this time, nor last when I think about it. That is a shame but at least I can get back to work now.

I struggle to see why we're leaving us short in CM and specifically cover for Dembele. If we aren't signing anyone, i would have thought Mason would get some game time this year. Maybe Poch has another master-stroke up his sleeve in keeping with Dier's conversion to being a DM
