Mousa Dembele

While I agree that 10 games for that would be ridiculous I wish some Spurs fans would take off the blue tinted glasses, he may not have meant to take his eye out but it could have happened and just because he is a Spurs player should make no difference to what is a bad offense.
It should be the same as any other violent charge that ended up in no injury by anyone who isn't a serial offender.

I can't remember anyone in those circumstances getting more than 3.

It will be more ( imo) and deserved for me, I can only imaging the outcry and gnashing of teeth on here if it had been a Chelski player doing the same on one of our players.

It sort of looks like it starts out as an attempt at the eye area but then Mousa's hand veers off. Definitely more scratch than gouge. Still not acceptable behaviour but talks of extended bans beyond 3 games seems excessive.

Leaving to one side the rights or wrongs of Dembele's actions, it does seem another case of selective trial by tv

Think I've watched this video so many times now, I can't actually see any contact or intent to "gouge", it is clear the hand is near the face but from that angle it could be a centimetre or 2 inches. As has been said before the fact that Costa reacts and goes to the opposite side of his face brings in to doubt that any contact was made and therefore what the intent of Moussa was.

Chelsea players all have previous. Last time a Chelsea player did that to one of ours he didn't even get a yellow, let alone a ban.

I can not remember but he got sent off later in the same game when he jumped with Jan, and I thought he got a longer ban then usual?

Thatcher only got 8 games for an intentional elbow on someone who cannoned into the stands and was knocked unconscious and spent a night in hospital. 10 games would be way way over the top.

If it was it was ( I still remember him getting a longer ban for the sending off during that game). However what Dembele did was a disgrace ( imo) and just because I am a Spurs supporter I will not/can not condone it. What others do is down to them but as I said earlier some need to take off the blue tinted glasses.
Nobody is condoning or defending it. He broke the rules, he should get a ban.

I'm simply arguing that his punishment shouldn't be any more severe than previous equivalent situations. That means three matches should be the absolute maximum IMO.

Totally agree.

Also has anyone worked out why Walker's nose was bleeding after the off field tussle with Costa, I've tried to find pictures / video but have had no luck.

Yes, and I would be very shocked if any Chelsea player was getting more than a 3 game ban for anything short of murder or drug abuse. But incredibly stupid of Dembele nonetheless, even if 10 games is overly harsh.

Side note, I cannot get myself to dislike Arsenal more than Chelsea, the club does EVERYTHING the wrong way, from top to bottom. I cannot fathom how you can assemble such a talented squad, and still depend upon cheating, hacking, bullying and general loathsome behaviour to get results.

It was Spazilaqueta I think. Everyone's been looking so hard for what Costa did they've all missed it.

After reading FA will be charging Chelski and Tottenham Hotspur for failing to control their players, will they also censure themselves for failing to control Chelski's public statements to the media in the week prior to the game?

Completely stupid. Cameras catch everything. Costa would be still rolling around with much contact. Torres on vertonghen much worse with no punishment.
But FA needed way to get this over with, considering all that went on. Hopefully in a few days the hearing concludes just that. Very litttle reaction from costa, but intent was there. 3/4 match ban.

Agreed. Why is Dembele's hand in the face of Costa worse than Felliani's elbow to Huth's neck? Both are serious foul play. Felliani's indiscretion is also more dangerous to the opponent's health.

I am also still completely puzzled as to why Huth had no charge to answer after the Leicester West Ham game? He transgressed not once but twice - the first time with a swinging elbow and the second time with a karate chop to the neck, on both occasions he connected. Any more than 3 games and all the FA are showing is that they base both their investigations (as they have already shown) and their punishment on the amount of press coverage.

As an aside here how long was Shearer banned for when he booted Neil Lennon in the face?

Same as any non-Spurs player:

Had forgotten about that. Certainly not any different from or less bad than Dembele's poke at Costa.

Inconsistency is the heartbeat of the FA though, so I don't expect equal treatment for the two.
They will most likely throw the book at Dembele. But on the plus side it will give him some rest after the Euros and he'll be like a new signing when he returns.

Not looking for what Costa did just thought that's who it was. Saw Walker and someone go down beside our goal after a tussle and then Walker coming off at the sideline to wipe his nose of blood. I thought it was Costa because they complained about Walker wiping his nose and flicking it at Costa, was that a separate incident?
