Mousa Dembele

While I agree that 10 games for that would be ridiculous I wish some Spurs fans would take off the blue tinted glasses, he may not have meant to take his eye out but it could have happened and just because he is a Spurs player should make no difference to what is a bad offense.
I am not defending dembelle in any way, but there cannot be a set of rules for some and another for everyone else.
As I have stars elsewhere the blame for the conduct of the players this year lies squarely at the feet of the FA. Way to much has been ignored and now they they are running round looking for a spacegoat.

How many times have the chavs been charged this season - after West Brom, West Ham, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs, any more?

Hope the FA take note. Spurs have to get it into mediation at least.

Spot on. Dembele was totally out of order and was 'at it' long before anybody else.
His play was poor overall and he looked totally distracted from playing football......and he's one of the more experienced players:eek:.
He was a total muppet but I doubt the club will suspend him sadly

I would say getting an early elbow in the mug from Mikel, followed by an attempted slap and Clattenberg doig nothing did not help...

I had actually forgotten that he got off that one....

Looks like Dembele's defence is sorted however: "A three-man commission decided after the personal hearing that the player himself requested that the incident was provoked by a "genuine attempt to free himself"
I think I mentioned earlier in this thread, when a player is as known for biting and spitting as Costa, surely it's just self defence?

I agree ( imo) Sky are the of the worse things that have happened to football. It's fine for the armchair supporters I guess but for the fans that actually go to games they treat them like brick and could not give a toss. As for referees they ar like everyone else ( no matter what the job is) they will make mistakes and for a lot of fans they will always be to blame.

I wonder how many of those that never stop bitching about Refs have actually tried to ref a game.

Are you suggesting that we should have no complaints about Clattenberg's, err, 'performance'? I wonder how many people who never stop bitching about players 'needing to be calm' have tried to play football when being pinched, wrestled, elbowed and fouled repeatedly, with the ref seemingly not bothered?

There surely has to be some collective wrongdoing/cheating/economical mess to invoke points deduction? The Nibbler alone would have sent Liverpool straight down to league 2.

But I agree that it would have been an extremely convenient way to summon St. Totteringsday again.

United and Arsenal both got points deducted after their 22 man brawl in 1990. I'm not aware of another occasional when it has happened here.

This. There's more than enough precedent that a first violent offence with no harm done whatsoever is a 3 matches (or fewer) ban.

Most importantly, we can afford better lawyers than the FA so fudge them.

Absolutely. Someone needs to go for these tossers.
By the way, should he get banned after appeal anyway, it will be the second time I will rue the fact that out player did not actually do anything substantial to get it. Frankly, if a punch is considered less than putting a hand on someone's face, then I wish he'd absolutely smashed Costa in the jaw. Anyone who wishes to view that comment with disdain whilst sipping their almond milk latte and peering over their cravate can save themselves the bother!

Four seasons of refereeing everything from U8s to Northern League football, I agree they will make mistakes but when they don't actually apply the laws of the game you have to wonder why they're on the pitch, the game on Monday would've finished 7 v 9 had they been applied which isn't what Sky want so the refs (IMO) try to keep players on the field that if it were Barnsley vs Colchester would have seen yellow/red. Unfortunately that then leads to the debacle we saw.

Yeah the linesman actually pulled his arm back just after he did it, so not sure how he can claim he didn't see it

He was watching it right in front of him so will struggle to argue he didn't see it when he is clearly caught watching

You were saying?

The incident was not seen by the referee, Mark Clattenburg, or his assistants, during a melee at the end of the first half, but the FA has analysed TV footage to bring the charge.

Am I allowed to agree with you whilst sipping on my Cabernet Franc and peering over my cravat?

Yeah I would upset he video evidence back and ask them what he did see then As he was caught on camera watching it ... I have seen it back multiple times and he is watching clear as daylight and that was Even highlighted by Sky

Any judge upon seeing the evidence would through this case right through the window

No I did not say that at all, the point I was making is that a lot of fans will blame refs even before the game kicks off. Be honest how many times do we read pre match threads and see the complaints about refs even before a ball I kicked. And anyone who has played football at any level will have been kicked, fouled etc without the ref doing anything. Did it not happen to you? I know it happened to me and I still have the scares to prove it and if any one who has played the game turned round to me and says they have never done a illegal tackle or whatever on a football pitch they are not only fooling themselves they are telling untruths.

I believe a few first-half yellows would've calmed the game down. Like children, if players know the adult in charge isn't up to discipline, they will push and push and push the line. Collina would NEVER have stood for any of it!

Big fan of mousa but an attempted eye gouge is shameful and has no place on a football pitch. He should have smacked Costa hard between his weaselly eyes.

Have to agree Steff. I hate having a go at Refs and I normally rate Clattenburg, but he totally lost control of that match. As well as charging both clubs for failing to control their players he should also receive some form of censure for failing to control both sets of players.

How Costa got away with the head in the face early in the 1st half still baffles me
