Mousa Dembele

i like dembele the way he is and i think poch has figured out that some diversity makes us less predictable and improves us.

since he has become a regular starter we have better penetration in attack and more steel in the midfield.

slow transitions from defence to attack is not just down to dembele.

my view anyway. we shall see now with quick passer carroll in for dembele.

In Poch we trust!

@OptaJoe
3 - Mousa Dembélé has now scored three goals in the Premier League this season, equalling his best tally in a single PL campaign. Lead.

@SpursStatMan

@Squawka
Mousa Dembélé for Spurs this season:

Most successful take-ons (43)
Most tackles won (43)
Best pass accuracy (89%)

A beast. So exciting to watch. Another good game today, and such a well taken goal. Great to have him back in the side.

Then guy makes my pants sticky and we dominate when he plays. We can dominate anyone with him playing midfield as he occupies the opposite and just dominates them physically

Would have been so good to Have him over Christmas

Another good game from him yesterday. Fast becoming our best player this season IMO.

He is delivering on the talent that most of us knew was there

He is playing as though he actually believes in himself now and because he is physically a fricking beast he is such a weapon

If I had a song for him it would something along the lines of "oh Mousa, I smile when you smile..." he's always so focused but when he scores you get that million dollar smile!

credit to poch for allowing dembele to be more of himself. i admire teams where players of different attributes shine but are able to unify as a team to become a more potent force.
early on it looked like dembele was playing with invisible shackles - trying to do the quickest short pass thing that everyone seemed to be smitten about.
holding the ball, dragging players out of position, getting them to commit themselves before passing - those are the things that dembele does best.

Ball retention and accuracy of pass under pressure is one of the key attributes prozone measures for midfielders I believe. Kramer the Leverkusen midfielder had some of the best numbers a year or two back but I'd like to see how Dembele stacks up against these best in class players now.

I have been of the opinion that Dembele's shortcomings over the last few seasons were a result of his self-belief or lack thereof. Poch really seems to be the man to bring players like Dembele on to a completely different level. He's like a horse whisperer for footballers :confused:

Forgot about Kramer, what happened to him and the other guy we were linked with? I know Schneiderlin has been fairly average at Utd.

Leaves Carroll (6 months), Veljkovic (6 months), Oduwa (6 months) and Verts (18 months) as the only players with concerning contract situations.

Vertonghen one will have to be sorted one way or another in the summer.
Unless a silly money bid comes in for him (unlikely I would think) I can't see any reason why Vertonghen wouldn't put pen to paper too. Actually I imagine Dembele signing will only make it more likely Vertonghen will also sign considering they are buddies.
