Morgan Gibbs-White

Agreed.
I love Eze's style and air; to me it's Tottenham-style.
I think MGW is a fine player, and I think his off-the-ball terriereseque attitude earmarks him as perhaps more 'Frankian' however given their ages and relative prices, I'd go for Eze all day (wanted him for a couple of seasons now).
I think it's interesting see Gallagher noted again (agent talk?) however Frank's comment about surgeries and patients shows that he knows what we didn't have to see out Wed's game, and perhaps he's made that very very clear to the board?
I also have to think we have a cash injection from somewhere?
Did you see the Beeb article that ‘confirmed’ the cash injection the other day? Reckon it will come out in the wash post window.

I think the fact we moved on MGW first says he was the primary target for that role - I've got no real opinion on who is the better player and regardless, if we get our first or second choice targets over the line ultimately i think that means we're doing what we are setting out to do so is fine by me either way.

With transfer fees being structured over multiple years (sometimes/often?) I don't see why we couldn't fund multiple big (ish) money deals in one window - 3 x 60m players / 4 years works out to 45m outlay - depending what else we owe out i don't see the need to look for answers in the form of investment or injections

We do owe a lot, that's what the accounts do tell us. But we don't know enough about the structure of each deal to know how much is due out each season.

The subtexts for me are -

His agent blew it on the release clause and did not place it in the B&W space, instead leaving it open to 'interpretation'.
Marinakis decided he could not lose his two best players in 2 days.
He used the velvet/green glove to make sure Gibbs-White stayed.

I'll say this...if we get Eze I'll forget this. If we get Eze and Savinho I'll be grateful it did not happen.

Hopefully this proves to be a blessing in disguise, like Berahino and Son a decade ago!

Gibbs-White’s agent must be kicking himself that he didn’t let the clause slip a little sooner though, as Marinakis might’ve let the move proceed if Elanga hadn’t moved the day before.

Yeah, I agree. It must be really significant though. Ideally you add transfer debt from this summer but end up paying prior years transfer debts at the same time. At the same time, you sell players and offset it. Therefore the overall debt doesn't go up.

In our case, I'm not sure that is the case. We have no significant sales but are making the big purchases. It's going up.

Definitely a conscious decision by the club though, and probably to do with this cash injection we keep hearing about.
