Maybe the player has some kind of confidentiality clause where they can't divulge details of their contract. But proving this, and how information is shared is impossible. As for players and clubs talking, we once dug our heels in about this too. But now, it seems accepted that agents and clubs talk...not sure you can stop that with contractual obligations.

What was the statement forest released about refs a couple seasons back? They’re prone to being theatrical since the big guy took over. Like some have said most likely saving face

Tapping up is part and parcel of football now, clubs make sure the player is interested before bidding. Although I very much doubt anyone from the club has contacted MGW directly, most likely spoke to his agent as an intermediary and they probably have numerous clients so proving tapping up would be difficult.

The way Forest were signing people, they probably forgot the clause was in there.

Also, a player as talented as MGW would not make a move from Wolves to Forest if he didn’t think there was an easy route out of there if he proved himself. I would bet that one of the ways Forest convinced him to sign there is that they would put a release clause in, otherwise MGW could have gone anywhere else.

I always thought Wolves to Forest was a strange one for someone of his level of talent. Release clause is the only way it makes sense.

I only did a quick google so you maybe right, but do Chelsea strike you as a club that give a toss about rules?

No, but maybe it was something to do with not wanting a protracted fight on a player and wanting to keep doing their business quickly, and moving to their next target?

Spurs consult lawyers on everything they do, absolutely everything, there is no way this was done without some level of covering their tracks OR sticking to the rules in the case that this is their owner throwing a wobbly
It's posturing from him, he seems a bit of a helmet and is not liking the flack he is getting for selling two of the clubs best players within days of each other

Read up about the alleged heroin smuggling. There's a guardian article. Or it's on his wikipedia page. Neville is lucky he didn't get killed.
Excuse me sir, I have to correct you!

It wasn't heroin, it was cocaine.

But he was lucky (if it was him) because all 6 witnesses proved to have health issues or bad luck and they all left this cruel world.

Apart from that, Marinakis is the main sponsor of the Greek government (or vice versa) and treats the Greek league as his toy. All in all he's not used to losing. It was about time, if you ask me.

According to this heroin.

"In March 2018, Marinakis was charged with drug trafficking.[133] The accusations against Marinakis were described as "very serious charges" following an investigation after the tanker Noor 1 was intercepted at the Greek port of Piraeus carrying 2.1 tonnes of heroin in 2014.[134] According to the jailed co-owner of Noor 1, Efthymios Yiannousakis, the vessel had in fact carried an additional ton of heroin (worth $70 million) which was unloaded on the island of Crete and trafficked to mainland Europe before Greek authorities managed to intercept the rest of the cargo. The judicial council of the Piraeus Lower Court touched on all related issues and ruled that the prosecutor's order was not justified.[135]"

Partly, but if we have been caught red handed, then Christ it could really troubling. The Prem would love to do us, as they did with Chelsea before covid.

How would we be caught red handed? We wouldn't speak to the player directly. We'd probably have an agent contact his agent.

It seems bs anyway. "Secret" release clause? A club could bid a £100mil, then forest don't tell the player. It's ca doing negotiations not eric hall.

If he turned up for a medical without forest accepting the bid maybe.

You're right. I think that this time I have to correct myself :)

The Forest chairman had a public on field blow up with his own manager last season....he's all about the optics, when things are reflecting badly on him is my guess.

Surely only a matter of time before Marinakis ditches NES after he let CL spot slip and replaces him with the national hero who knows how to get the job done…
