Modric - No Longer A Spurs Player

Bored of the Croats now.

Me too...Not only of football players, mind you.

Niko is talking out of his arse, but some people on the board are trashing Dynamo Kyiv without the facts backing them...
The club won 13 titles in the USSR (+ 13 titles in the Ukraine), was the only non-russian club that could challenge the Moscow clubs and there were some amazing teams there over the years...

I wonder who Niko should show more loyalty to, his friend and compatriot? or his former employer that saw him as an asset and stalled his career?

I dont hold any grudges with Niko, he played fo us and was extremely talented and played well. he no longer plays for us and obviously sees himself as nevr coming back here. So he is siding with his friend. fair enough Niko.......you were good but now you are gone.

"I know from my own experience how difficult these people are and how hard it is to break out of a contract with them.

And this is a bad thing? Holding people to contracts they have signed.

That's the bit that made me laugh, the fudging hypocrisy!

"I cannot believe the Tottingham Hotspurs. I say I want to play for them for 4 years, and they think I REALLY want to play for them for 4 years?!!! Why U No Let Me Go Free Like Bird, I Gave U My <3 Tottinghams?"

Ah, so Kranky DOES know what he is doing and saying and therefore is a macaron. As opposed to Modric who is no more than an innocent puppet. Good to see some Croats do have free will....

:ross:

LOL...hope you're proud mate, you should be with this well-constructed gem of critical thought and discussion...

Dumb fudgers really do live on a different planet.

Absolutely outrageous that Niko thinks it's a bad thing that we hold our players to contracts. What a tool. The idea that because we've said Modric can go, that we should accept any old derisory bid is absolutely adsurd. How can anyone think that's the right thing to do?

I can understand that Kranjcar was disappointed he didn't play more, but I assume he happily accepted his pay cheques, which the club continued to pay him according to this terrible contract he holds in such contempt.

How seriously would Levy be taken if he said the following?

"I know from my own experience how difficult these players who are not playing are and how hard it is to break out of a contract with them. Remember Kranjcar? We kept paying his wages for two years, in full and not a pound less, until finally he found a club willing buy his contract".

:)

I actually hope we sign more Croatians despite all of this. On the pitch they tend to deliver, most of them seem to work very hard and most of them are very good on the ball as well.

I would rather have players that do the business on the pitch then get angry when they don't get to play or don't get the dream move they feel they deserve than have someone who's not good enough on the pitch.

seriously?

Modric is a one off talent, I´ll give you that...

but Corluka, slowest RB to play the game
Kranjcar, injured all the time, slower than Corluka
Eduardo was not really world class with Arsenal

I would like Jelavic though, good work ethic and can score goals, slower than Teddy Sheringham though..

I agree with you, but ATM I don't see any players that we could use...Maybe Domagoj Vida from Dinamo as a cover for CB and RB, and Mateo Kovačić as a great prospect for CM or AM.

Mandzukic? I didn't really rate him from what I saw of him at Wolfsburg, but he looked pretty good in the Euros and has a decent goal return in Germany. How Darijo Srna never played for a bigger club I'll never know. Rakitic is a tidy footballer and still only 24, ditto Perisic at 23. There are a good number of good Croatian footballers. And as for Charlie, the fact that he is slow and can still have a fast winger in his pocket speaks volumes of his other abilities.

I do wish people would stop attacking people on the basis of their nationality. I see Gio being described this morning as a Mexican so-and-so, and Niko/Modric as a Croatian such-and-such. But their behaviour is nothing at all to do with where they're from and it gets insulting to Spurs fans from Croatia or Mexico when this stuff is peddled. Ok, that might only be about 6 dudes, but nonetheless.

He is the Shakhtar captain and close to a legend status, and getting a brickload of money there...
Rakitić and Perišić are good, and might make it in the PL.
Charlie is underrated by most on this board. He has great skill and positioning sense, and should be here at least as cover for Walker.
