Manager Sack Watch 2015/16

Oh that's interesting. So does that mean it was never actually possible for him to manage Villa or wherever he was linked to a few years back when he left the US role?
I heard he had done a good job in Norway and I thought it was strange that he left for Le Havre. But if they have some money and he can continue to enhance his reputation then maybe he'll still get a crack at a bigger club one day.

He can still take top jobs as long as he's taking the necessary courses within a reasonable time frame.

Steve McLaren next? Replaced by.... Wait for it..... 'Arry! How about Monday. We always get the new manager games.

Next up: Koeman

Only 5 wins all season: Norwich, Bournemouth, Swansea, Sunderland and Chelsea.

Moaning about lack of money to spend.

Still not signed a new contract.

History of jumping ship when he gets bored/not given money.

Bottom half now (though not by much). 6 points down to Swansea in 18th, but only 4 to Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Norwich in 16th and 17th. I think Swansea are likely to bounce back and Chelsea are due a resurgence post-Mourinho. Bournemouth are looking good and in good form, WBA are obviously going to Pulis their way into a mid table finish.

Last 5 for Southampton are 4 losses and a draw. The draw was at home to Villa(!) Though the losses were against fairly tough teams (ourselves, Palace, City and Stoke).

Arsenal at home next for them, then West Ham and Norwich away. If Koeman doens't pick up some results in the next two the Norwich game might be labelled a relegation 6 pointer for them. Not sure how comfortable they'll be with that...

Talk on the saints board of player unhappiness at his relaxed management style and players being picked despite playing poorly. His outburst after their last game could be a reaction to this.

Sack Race: When did LvG’s United last play well?

1. Louis van Gaal (↑5)

There is no disputing the current favourite in the sack race with Manchester United boss Van Gaal currently in pole position and as short as 1/6 to go next.

At the start of November Van Gaal was 16th in the ladder, despite their inability in front goal, but since then Tim Sherwood, Jose Mourinho and Garry Monk have all gone leaving the Dutchman as the only real contender. He was a 66/1 shot back then and looked a touch of value, even though the incompetence of Sherwood at Villa would have ruined your return.

But now he looks destined to go next after United were rolled over by struggling Norwich at Old Trafford – the Canaries’ first win there since 1989.

It’s fair to say the last time United played well, shot-at striker Wayne Rooney had a full head of natural hair, but while Van Gaal’s men were picking up points earlier in the season he was papering over the cracks.

But now, with the Champions League gone and a team that has no identity and little confidence those cracks are now appearing left, right and centre.

The one noticeable thing that Van Gaal has developed is a possession-based game with no end product. United again dominated possession against Norwich with 69% but only managed two shots on target and that has been the story of Van Gaal’s tenure.

United top the charts for average possession (58%), but that is the only chart they are top of with Van Gaal’s men heavily criticised for being too slow and predictable in possession. And now there is a growing feeling from the United fans that Van Gaal is not the right man for the job and with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola available it’s hard to disagree.

So the logic is, LvG's possession based system isn't working, United should replace him with Jose or Pep?

Someone's not thought that through have they.

"Played well" is a highly subjective statement, football is based on a very definite measure of success, the scoring of points.

koeman at 16/1, value bet if ever i saw one

They won't sack him.Its not his fault they have sold off most of their decent players and they won't go down. They won't find a better manager.More chance he upgrades at end of season.

Turkish side sack fifth coach of season after one match in charge

Turkish top-tier club Genclerbirligi have fired their fifth coach since the start of the season after only one match in charge.

Yilmaz Vural, 62, managed the side for six days and one away league game which they lost 2-0.

Genclerbirligi have 13 points from 17 matches and are 16th in the 18-team Super Lig.

Ilhan Cavcav, president of the Ankara-based club, has appointed 51 different coaches since taking over in 1981.

Turkish media reported Vural was sacked after asking to sign players in the mid-season window, a request Cavcav rejected saying the squad was big enough.
