Kyle Walker

Re: Could Walker do a Bale?????

I think he needs to concentrate on be a fb.
If there was any other position to consider it would be as a striker for balls in behind and in the channels.
I think he may have started there anyway

Im telling you, i think we have a chance to really improve our team

give these guys walker and take micah richards

sorted. best defending RB in the country

He's not the best defending RB at his club, nevermind the country.

I do rate him but his injury record just seems to get worse and worse these days.

As for Kyle, there simply is something wrong with his attitude, the way he went down was awful, half rolling over and half appealing at the ref when he was going down. Was he booked for diving or was it for dissent?

And how many stupid stupid fouls in dangerous areas will he continue to give away when there isn't a need to be making any contact with the player at all? It's unbelievable at times

Re: Could Walker do a Bale?????

walker has a good strike on him too.
i think its possible. lots of coaching and retraining needed, but walker certainly possesses the raw materials. and with football the higher up the pitch you play, the less grey matter you need :)

Re: Could Walker do a Bale?????

Yes - I believe he could interest Nottingham Forest to take him on loan

zabaleta i would think is a better footballer than micah, but not a better defender?
thoughts?

I agree that Walker has looked seriously suspect recently, but unfortunately there is more pressing matters to deal with in the summer ie cover on the eings, centre mid and up front.

I think this thread needs a morale booster

I have defended Kyle in the past but last night the freekick he gave away for the 3rd goal was comical he pushed zanetti infront of the ref who was two yards away facing him

Idiotic thing to do - then again, for 75 minutes he had seen Inter players getting away with excessive showing and pushing, so I guess he figured the same rules applied to both teams. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.

It was horrible to watch refereeing wise.. I lost count of the amount of fouls on us where he just waved play on! It was frustrating to watch. You could see Defoe was pretty much lost for words by the time he came off.

Same with the lino and the throw-ins / corners being giving to them even though most were clearly incorrect calls

Still, doesn't stop Walker being a complete plum for giving away costly free-kicks every single game!

Yeah last night was up there with the sunderland one in terms of pure idiocy.

Kyle is suffering from the ' Difficult Second Album Syndrome'. Last year he was fantastic for us, but this year he has been erratic and inconsistent. Even still he has had some good games recently (check the ratings threads) and superb moments that are often glossed over, but the witch-hunt is well and truly on. When Walker makes a last ditch tackle it because he was out of position and caused it himself, when Vertoghen does it he is the 2nd coming of the King. Vertoghen certainly is the fair hair boy at the moment figuratively and literally but I still firmly believe that Walker will grow from this season into the marauding full back we all want. People forget he's still a PL novice playing in a position that requires experience first and foremost.

Last night I thought Dembele pretty much abandoned him and he floundered. The winger and wing back are a unit that should complement and cover for each other. There was none of that last night until Lennon came on. I won't defend the freekick though (and neither did we).

Personally I'd say Zabaleta is the better defender, but Richards is still young, he has some work to do on his positional awareness but injuries are holding him back. Don't think City would consider selling him to us, and don't think they'd want Walker either.

Really good point the first goal came from dembele walking back, if lennon had started he wud of covered alot better

Re: Could Walker do a Bale?????

I think he has more of a prospect as a goalkeeper, than moving up to the wing. Seriously, do some people even watch this guy play? I'll bet some of the pro Walker posters are twelve years old, with his posters on their bedroom walls.
