One thing that this evenings match did was validate something I already knew, that Tanganga is head and shoulders the best right back in the squad. Doherty looked atrocious, again.

What were your views on him?It looks like Japhet may well end up proving me very wrong.... I certainly hope so!
Same as Levy. What were your views on him?

Tottenham fans have not seen much of Japhet Tanganga in match action this season after making a huge impression for the club 12 months ago. Handed a shock league debut against runaway leaders Liverpool, the 21-year-old grasped his opportunity with both hands and dealt incredibly well up against the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Playing a further nine games for Jose Mourinho until football came to a halt at the start of March due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tanganga didn't appear again for Spurs after the restart due to a back issue. The academy graduate has made seven appearances in total so far this term, with three of those in the Europa League, but a number of niggling injuries have stopped him adding to that total.
Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga is expected to sidelined for around two months after scans revealed ankle ligament damage. Tanganga suffered the injury in Spurs' midweek defeat to Aston Villa and is likely to miss the start of pre-season training under their new manager.
The injury caps a frustrating campaign for the 22-year-old defender, who has also been sidelined with shoulder and thigh problems. He managed 13 appearances in total, including six League starts.
Poor today, but will hopefully learn a lot from the gameWell, he showed today that he's a bit weak when up against a strong and skilful speed-merchant.
I think we can extend a modicum of understanding towards him for that.
I don't think he was poor today he just got outplayed by a dangerous attacker that many FBs struggle with.Poor today, but will hopefully learn a lot from the game

Hmm I don't think he was poor because he got outplayed by his rival, I honestly have no problem acknowledging a poor performance from him or anyone else. I have 0 sentimental connection.Of course he was poor. What's the problem with acknowledging it? Just as he took the plaudits last week, he needs to take the criticism this week. Traore ran him ragged and most importantly he played him wrongly, getting too close and then being rolled by someone with equal strength and greater pace. It will be a learning experience for him and to be fair he will not come up against many similar players in the league. However, anyone thinking we do not need reinforcements at right back may be well surprised as the season progresses.

We seem to be having a healthy difference of opinion today. He was outplayed because he was not clever enough, He tried to play Traore as he played Grealish - close and combative - without realising that he was dealing with a completely different style of player.... ending up being rolled a number of times and getting carded for a truly nasty challenge. That is poor play in my book....
Had he stood off Traore and let him get a run up we would have been in just as much trouble. Then someone could have come on here saying that Tanganga played him the wrong way and didn't get close enough.Of course he was poor. What's the problem with acknowledging it? Think we improved as a team. Lucas got wider and helped shut down the service to Traore and deal with the wing back. Allowed Tanganga to stick closer to Traore before he got the ball instead of having to deal with the wing back and leave Traore to Sanchez (wich ended just as predictably when that happened in the first half). Also partly that Traore ran out of steam. He started off having a very hard time against Traore but he got better as the game went on and won the battle in the second half. Still learning the game at RB and the different type of players he is facing but he will get there i am sure. Least of our problems going forward.
