clint: I spoke to Huw last week about Naughton, he said they WILL be bidding for him in January.... Monk likes him

I don't understand why clubs are waiting for January, I've read this about us as well, you can bid now and complete the transfer when the window opens.

Because they don't want to unsettle their current RB, when there's a big 10 days of games coming up?

I actually think Naughton has done really well this season.

One issue getting rid of him and bringing Yedlin in is that we'd then have 3 O/S players too many (BAE and Khumalo already missed the 17 man cut last time).

We'd maybe need to bring Archer back from loan and pay off Friedel to balance the numbers back a bit.

I thought I read on newsnow that Archer is coming back to that might be in progress

From what I read it seems that Archer is only on his way back because of budget issues. The club's manager said something along the lines of that they have a decent keeper and whilst he'd like competition for that spot, he needs to spend money elsewhere.

Don't think this has been posted in here yet, even though it's a few days old.

[Update 17 Trix Confirming things]

Who: Trix (Trickyvilla on SC)
When: 20th Dec
Where: SC, Adebayor Ready to Dig in Heels Thread

Lennon has had a slight worry with his hamstring since the day of the Palace game. It is why he was pulled from being pencilled into the starting line up and why played(reluctantly) for only 7 minutes or so. He has felt it tight on a couple of occasions since, and due to the fact we have a fully fit and functioning squad it was deemed silly to risk him during such a busy period of games. So to say he is being left out because of the squad fall out is far fetched. As for the other three it has been well documented that there was a big bust up between Ade and Kane and that the three you mention( Lennon to a much lesser extent) all sided with Ade against the rest of the squad and more importantly the manager. MP 100% wants rid of Ade and to a lesser extent the other two, but I can assure you that nothing is agreed that any of them will be off, and as things stand all three will probably still be at the club(in some capacity) in February. Nothing of course is set in stone, but unless someone comes in with a massive offer for him to break the mega deal he has with us, or he accepts a lesser payout(than his full contract) from the club to leave, he will still be getting his THFC wages come Feb 1st.

from a benteke vs bony discussion on coys

hertyid: We are definitely keeping very close tabs on Bony availability that's for sure.
Not sure we ever followed up on Benteke after summer 2013.

this post was given a thumbs up from trix / @TrickyVilla

If that is the case it does not say much for our assessment of players. Benteke is ten times the player that Bony is...

In what sense? Since his first season and long lay off through injury Benteke looks half the player he was, whilst Bony has gone from strength to strength and is currently looking the much better player

It is for me actually... It's something I would never expect Bony to do. Beneteke has that something in his play that you expect him to score. He is superior to Bony as a sole target man, his strength and control making the ball stick, his heading is vastly superior and he has the ability to do the unexpected - again not something Bony is likely to undertake.

Our biggest mistake was to get scared by his 30 mill price tag two years ago only to get get Sold-a-dud for very much the same amount of money. Benteke in a Spurs shirt would be legendary!

Benteke's hold up play is awful. With his back to goal he's very weak. Slightly different tpe of CF but the last one we had who was so weak with his back to goal was Darren BEnt

I'd be very disappointed if we went for either. Overrated and ridiculously overpriced.

This .. Benteke, Bony, Lukaku have all failed to push on, too expensive ... rather spend 25-30M on a truly class midfielder and keep Kane/Soldado and pick up another young/promising striker somewhere.
