Ingerlund

I don't dislike Milner, although I feel he has become a big more thuggish since going to Liverwhinge.

I recall him playing on the wing (his England debut ?) and he mucked up ... REALLY mucked up the first 5 or 6 moves, after which no-one would pass to him for the rest of the half. At the end of the game the commentariat decided he had been England's best player.

As for no wingers, well there's Andros. He has delivered for Roy, albeit in cameo subs, and has become less predictable at Sunderland.

He can defend, he's a hard worker and has had a productive season for Liverpool (in the league 5 goals and 11 assists/7 and 14 in all comps).

However I dislike watching him and I've never seen him play well in a (non qualifying- frankly those matches are barely competitive, an okay international side should always qualify considering the dross) competitive match for england. Considering his performances for Liverpool he could be a good option in the centre for england.

Townsend isn't good enough imo, he adds something to a brick side as a focal point, he will never be a focal point for england as he isn't productive enough in the final third.

I think Hodgson has picked the team he knows plus the outstanding players of the past two seasons, this is problematic as the team he knows has no chance in the tournament so there will be an overreliance on the new players who are forced into a ill fitting system.
Whilst the team does need consistency, it also need players who are on form and good, which is where the team that he has built has majorly failed.

Plus picking bloody injured players is ridiculous, especially when they're crap anyway.

Sorry um very tired

Nice little vid on the Spurs home page from England training. The Spurs lads looked obviously in tune with one another, with Dele scoring a beauty.

+1 @parklane1

Watching the FA Cup Final and I'm not seeing Rooney do much that Wheelchair couldn't do better. Captain or not, he isn't deserving of a starting role right now.

walk, sprint, stand next to somebody else without punching them, go 5 mins without a cigarette, cross a white line without snorting it...

four four fudgeing two
In his defence, he's not got much to work with.

I've been through that squad and tried to find someone to play next to Dier - they're all dogbrick.

Not much point playing a double pivot but then making one of them Milner or Henderson.

I don't mind the diamond, especially with the option of Kane coming deep and Vardy threatening the space behind.

What annoys me about England is every game should be practice for playing Germany /Spain in the semi final. We'll play that formation against turkey and do okay. Then we'll persevere with it, and if we get anywhere, we'll suddenly change formation against a decent team, and try something totally new. Also our game plan for qualifying should be based on playing in heat, cause tournaments always are. And as I've said before, our centre halves are weak and our game plan should be based upon protecting them, which probably means counter attacking football.

No, no ... the warm ups are to provide match practice for any favourites who have missed the season through injury.

I'm gonna be interested to see how that lineup does. Arguably one of our strongest, certainly the midfield most of us expected. How Vardy, Sterling and Kane interact will be more interesting as Hodgson has enjoyed using Sterling centrally behind two strikers in the past.
