Both Italy and Uruguay have world class players, England don't. I'd expect both of those teams to beat England no matter who the manager is.

Hodgson outdated? What does that make Pearce whose tactics and methods are a good 20 years behind him?

Agreed. I'm sick of people always blaming the manager for not getting the best out of our "world class players", funny how Capello, a man who has won countless titles couldn't do it and suddenly he's a **** manager because he didn't succeed with England.

Bottom line is we won't progress until we teach kids to start keeping the ball and not luck to lump it forward at the first opportunity, teams who can't keep/control the ball don't win World Cups.

Someone name me a manager that could do much better than Hodgson is doing?

We need to start putting kids into similar weight groups rather than age - would take the bigger/faster/stronger advantage away.

What if we are teaching kids that but they are not getting the chance in the first team?

Well surely if you're good enough then you will get picked. Sky have to take a big share of the blame. Countries like Spain with no money are pretty much forced to play their kids as they can't go and splash £50m just because they can.

It's 50 years since we won the World Cup essentially it's about time everyone forgot that tournament and accepted we are an average side that should be about the 9th or 10th favourite to win a tournament at best. I think most England fans have actually started to see sense over the past few years but you'll still find some who are deluded enough to think we can win a tournament. Even the other day Danny Murphy said "we shouldn't fear Columbia if we get through." Why should Columbia fear England?

It makes not a huge amount of difference until the whole setup is changed from grass roots upwards.Germany saw they were stagnating 10/12 years ago and made massive changes straight away.
In many European countries the kids dont even play on full size pitches till they are 16.Playing on full size pitches at 10 just rewards hoof ball and having bigger kids in your team, none onf which will make you any better as an adult.

Team looks better than the one that ended the 2010 tournament. Might not stroll qualification but writing off the next 12 years is ludicrous as is the suggestion that the team will come from the championship.

I agree. The defence needs sorting out but if we can do that, we will have a decent team again and one that most of the players could be part of the set up for the next two or three tournaments.

Play John Stones at CB with Cahill. Get Luke Shaw at LB. Barkley into the side, drop Welbeck.

Beyond that we should be happy if we get to the quarter finals of any tournament as that is just about our level. If we get past that stage by all means get excited as anyone can win it from the semis onwards.

I agree. It is down to one of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Barkley or, if he really steps it up, Townsend to take it off of him.

I don't rate him at all. I fail to see what he's good at apart from running around a lot, he offers almost zero goal threat.
