I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

^ don't want to be negative as he was good today but several times he had a chance to put in a cross with his right foot but cut inside I have never seen a supposed top class player who is so one footed

I never rated Bale much either...

His primary objective is to have a positive impact on the game either by creatinhbor finishing opportunities... To date he hasn't really done that

But today he scored one and created what should have been a goal so he dos his job

But he started off poorly and was our worse player for twenty minutes. He kept ok running inside into a crowd of players the checking and passing backwards to someone. It's wasn't creative or threatening in the slightest

The key is that he changed tact a bit and improved and did some good stuff

I've been very critical of him due to his eneral lack of impact but today he did his job and deserves credit for it.... He needs to do it more often now and grow from today

I think that's an accurate appraisal of his performance - showed what he can do cutting inside from the right, but didn't put a poor left back under nearly enough pressure and only managed to put a decent cross in once, which should have been a goal - there were many occasions he could taken on the left back and got a cross in but opted to go inside. He didn't really offer any outlet in the second half.

But let the Lamela fan boys have their moment, they've been rather starved of late of anything to crow about.

Very unnecessary.

My 9 year old nephew asked is his right foot was disabled!!!

But I've seen plenty who commonly use one foot... However there generally the top top players like Guggs and Messi.... But even they used there right foot when needed

Some people cant be positive about anything.
If he doesnt take on the defenders hes not trying. In other game when he does this and loses the ball he's giving the ball away.

I'm positive about his ability to cut inside and score a goal but it's blatantly clear to me he simply doesn't possess the ability to perform a cross with his weak foot to same standard that, say, Chadli, did for the Kane's goal. The cross he, Lamela, did for Kane was more of pass as it was just a few feet away. He simply does not possess the ability to whip a ball in with his right foot. This is not about opinion, it is fact - generally when playing on the right he tries to work the ball on to left if possible and often holds on to it too long and his crosses from the left tend either to be a stab with the outside of the left or, as today, a short prod like pass with his right. Against a decent team - better than Burnley - you just won't get the chance to do that.

It's just something for him to work on. The less predictable he is, the more panic/chaos/confusion he causes in the opposition's defense. I thought his pressing was pretty good today and he made a few great interceptions.

As a very vocal Lamela critic, I was thrilled with his contribution today. No doubt had an excellent game and was MOTM. He showed us glimpses of what he can offer.

However this was Burnley and they did not park the bus - he got the space that his game needs. Nevertheless, there was less of his aimless dribbling and much more intelligence.

We will know if this was Lamela turning the corner or another false dawn after the Manure and Chelscum games....

Looked like a badly parked bus to me dude

At that age he couldn't. It wasn't until the Chelsea game where he scored with his right and Arsenal with his left that he came in to his own. What age was he then?

**** knows but i went to the Fulham away game which was his 2nd or 3rd game iirc and he was top top drawer.
Scored a blinder and tore them apart. But he was playing left back!!! He did use his right foot too in that game

Seriously we cannot even contemplate comparing Bale and Lamella at any level.

His best game so far, but needs to do it against better oppostion. Fantastic goal, and how he hasnt come away with another is beyond me.
Couple of great runs today. Well done to him, still a long way to go, but a definite step in the right direction

It was with the outside of his left foot.

I had a great view of it in the North stand

It looked right footed on the stream I was watching but if you saw it close up then fair enough, and it does seem more consistent with what he tends to do, fine if it works out, as it should have done today or against Cardiff for Paulinho's goal last season, but holding on to the ball so he can shift on to his left then only having the option of using the outside of his foot severely limits what he can do - and you have to be pretty much in the 6 yard box as well, which is where he tends to aim to get to.
