Guglielmo Vicario

It was weird, though... Vicario had his hands on Bergvall's chin, in a grip. I liked Bentancur's approach better, where it's a bit more reasonable but I don't know, I guess I feel that Vicario can do things like that if he's playing impeccably himself, but he's not.

That's how I want all our players to be feeling after a defeat, too many appear to be able to shake it off too quickly.

I don't know how much of Arsenal you've actually watched Raya is faaaar from garbage. That honestly reads like a bitter Tottenham fan upset that we didn't get him letting emotion rule over his eyes. Raya isn't perfect like you alluded to but to call him garbage is hyperbolic, Onana has been garbage but Raya has been one of the top 3 performers this season.

Bleep me, you're so right! Onana, now THAT is what one can call garbage!

Yeah I agree, basically just taking responsibility. Thing is, I understand that a young player learning a new league will make mistakes and I'm totally fine with that as he will learn from this and be stronger in the long run (hopefully). It was like Maddison giving the ball away last Thursday, it happens... but I have less patience for Maddison since he's not a young player new to the league.

I think … and it’s speculation … that Vic is telling him to keep his head high

Reya is a good keeper
Not spectacular but a good keeper
Onana is a stupid keeper. Vic can be stupid but makes WC saves

Everybody fudges up, it's how you deal with it that matters.

Yeah i'd liken a comparison between the two to somewhat like Fridel vs Gomes. Gomes being the more erratic keeper capable of absolutely world class saves, like simply ridiculous stuff but then also capable of making some baffling errors (Vic is a level above Gomes in terms of error proneness). Whereas Fridel wasn't so capable of the sublime, but was much less likely to make the random errors out of nowhere. I don't mind either, but I did prefer Gomes of the two in that era.

I do wonder if under a different coach with a bit more defensive balance if Vic gets the time to smooth the errors out because in terms of pure shot stopping I haven't seen many better and i'm thinking of the like of Buffon, Neuer, Ter Stergen and Allison etc.

He would for sure
I also think he would be better ina. More controlled way of playing

For one season Gomes was unbelievable

He really, really was. Possibly still my favourite Spurs keeper. 😅

He really was. You could argue that for about 4 or 5 seasons he was unbelievable. The problem was that the others were before and after he joined us. Just ask Watford fans.

Brad was never unbelievable. He just stayed rooted to his line and never did anything brave. He was never going to get hurt goalkeeping, hence why he still hold the record the consecutive PL games. He made sure he wasn't going to be at fault for any goals. but cost us loads.

What 'Arry should have done was started Gomes as 1st choice keeper the following season after the error, and saw what happened having Brad at the club. He sold Gomes down the river.

I remember when he stopped us absolutely shelacking PSV, made world class save after save

I always admired Brad though. He picked himself up off the floor after his US soccer academy went bad and left him almost bankrupt. He showed what a human can do when they have the right mindset. For him to be operating at that level at that age was incredible thinking about when most keepers go downhill.

Is it time to drop him?

I have read that he berated Bergvall after the 4th goal, which was obviously mainly because of Bergvall, but yet he didn't say a peep to Romero when he made possibly an even worse c0ck-up...if true, i'd bench him right away. No point being inconsistent in berating others and tending to do so to the younger ones imo

Didn’t he do the same to Archie Gray earlier this season? Wonder if he berates himself for the series of blunders he’s made recently.
