Guglielmo Vicario

Kelleher has looked good playing for Liverpool. I'm sure Vicario would look much better if we actually put a defence in front of him.

Not sure that would improve his ability to catch a ball when there is no one within 10 yards of him. Obviously it doesn’t help that Ange pays next to no attention to set pieces but he has so many flaws in his game I just don’t think his strengths make up for them.

We have far bigger player problems to sort out then the keeper.

This is why Spurs fans are the worse

None, literally none of our players are the problem at the moment.

To talk about Vic is both a complete miss of the current issues at club, and utter lack of football knowledge, look at Raya, Edison, Pickford, whoever, they fudge up every other game, Vic is easily in top 3-5 keepers in league (stats back it up as well)

Really? None of them? Not Richy who can’t get on the pitch for more than 3 games at a time? Or the bang average forwards who don’t have any guile? Or the 6/10 central midfielders we have?

Um he was fine last night and kept the score respectable

Apart from being his usual shaky self from set pieces and poor kicking. He’s the first to gonad the youngsters for making mistakes when he won’t even catch a ball with no one around to challenge him for the ball.

Honestly one of the first names we should get rid of. Yes he made a world class save but all keepers make saves. It’s bad enough that crosses and set pieces are his kryptonite and he can’t catch a ball, now he’s struggling kicking the ball too. He doesn’t inspire any confidence in an already shaky back four. I’d go all out for Kelleher in the summer.

Honestly not one of the first players that we should get rid of. I would prefer us to get rid of Reguilon, Bissouma, Richarlison, Werner, and Maddison first. The other squad players are about equal in as much as I don’t want any of them to leave. I want a new manager to come in who can set these players up well and then actually get a tune out of them more frequently than once a month.

Should've got Raya, seemed odds on he would come to us. Prem proven and a consistently good goalkeeper.
Sure we could've done the loan fee and permanent that Arsenal ended up doing.
Vicario has his qualities but unfortunately a few shortcomings.

Is it time to drop him?

I have read that he berated Bergvall after the 4th goal, which was obviously mainly because of Bergvall, but yet he didn't say a peep to Romero when he made possibly an even worse c0ck-up...if true, i'd bench him right away. No point being inconsistent in berating others and tending to do so to the younger ones imo

Maybe a slight difference in that Bergvall's was an active bad decision (to dribble past the players), whereas Romero's was a bad read of a bounce? One you can learn from, the other less so.

Raya is garbage, go look at any review of Arsenal's issues and his name comes up, GK is a priority signing for them in summer

Spurs fans are falling for narrative here, I had to listen to the American commentary on the game, and they couldn't shut up about how Vicario is a problem for Spurs, yet when he made saves .. nothing
- First goal is a punch to edge of box, where the defense left a man unmarked that no one closed down, really have no fudging idea how that is Vicario's fault. Go watch the Palace goal against City where Edison fails to get anywhere near the ball from similar situation (not a peep about how he's a problem for City)
- Second goal, he's covering for the fact the ball may get deflected or go strait, he gets to ball, it hits Spence, bad luck. Again, go look at Onana's mid week fudgeup where very similar ball just ends up going strait in.

Outside of Allison, all the "top" keepers in the PL have made more mistakes than Vic, data backs it up (think he has 2nd highest save percentage and one of the lowest errors leading to goals)

I didn't see that (not saying it didn't happen), what I did see is immediately on end of game, he went to Bergvall with a clear "chin up", not your fault message.

Hmm, if this is also what happened, then that partially redeems in in my eyes somewhat, fair play.

It was weird, though... Vicario had his hands on Bergvall's chin, in a grip. I liked Bentancur's approach better, where it's a bit more reasonable but I don't know, I guess I feel that Vicario can do things like that if he's playing impeccably himself, but he's not.

I don't know how much of Arsenal you've actually watched Raya is faaaar from garbage. That honestly reads like a bitter Tottenham fan upset that we didn't get him letting emotion rule over his eyes. Raya isn't perfect like you alluded to but to call him garbage is hyperbolic, Onana has been garbage but Raya has been one of the top 3 performers this season.
