If he leaves - I think Madrid would be the likely destination - doubt Levy would stengthen a direct league rival (see Modric) while Barcelona went for Alba recently.

A bit of statistical comparison to C. Ronaldo - this is how he did in the PL at age 23 (season 08-09), compared to Bale's (23) stats so far this season:

C. Ronaldo:
53 games, 26 goals, 8 assists

Bale:
30 games, 17 goals, 6 assists
(which adds up to 30 goals and 10 assists in 53 games, if he keeps it up)

Obviously C. Ronaldo's incredible 2007/08-season, with 49 games/42 goals/8 assists was way better than Bale's 42/12/14 last season, but it's an interesting comparison.

The man is an absolute beast.


If we can manage to keep hold of him, and he continues this one man wrecking spree of everyone we come up against, i can see decent strikers falling over themselves wanting to come and play with him.

So long as Levy wants to keep him, he's not going anywhere.

Gary Mabbutt kept on and on the other day (on SSN) about how ambitious we are as a club. If you are that ambitious you don't sell your best players. The only exception is when they keep pulling a strop until they get their way.

Fortunately Bale's not that sort.

How do you know? Modric wasn't that sort until he did it.

We MUST get champions league and up our wage structure to offer him £150k or something, Madrid or Emirates Marketing Project will offer that and more and we're kidding ourselves that he loves the club enough to stay in the face of offers like that if all we can do is £80k.

I think he`ll stay if we are clever enough to build around him. But I doubt we are that clever. He has just had a child, is enjoying his football. He aint going anywhere yet. Aslong as we compete.

A statue outside the Lane in ten years time? That would be nice :) He can be our Gerrard.. our lampard, but maybe I am dreaming. They`ve all kept their big players so Levy has to start building around him and stop thinking about money.

My biggest worry is United, they could really attract him I feel. He wont go abroad and the money banks City and Chelsea wont really appeal him.

Mancini was at WHL last night. Can see City sniffing around Bale in the summer

After losing out on RVP, City will want to make sure the same doesnt happen with someone like Bale. 60 mill for Spurs, 200k plus a week for Bale?? Cant see club and player being able to say no to those figures.

60million? What do you do with that? Buy dempseys and siggurdsons and play Europa league?

We shouldnt sale Bale whatever the price.

Everyone has their price. And you could get many dempsey's and siggurdsons for 60m, which would help improve the squad that will hopefully be in the CL next season.

On top of which you could get a number of vertonghens and Lloris's. It could go either way.


Not that i think we should sell him. I do see us being 'forced' to though eventually.

Once the player wants to go he will go. Ok at best Levy can force him to stay one more year, but just like with Modric and with Berbatov, ultimately Bale will get his move.

But Mancini probably won't be at City next season so who is he scouting for now????

IndianSpurs, are you saying we`ll never ever keep a top class player here? Give him good wages and build around him? So whats the point? Are some dreaming about finishing top 3 with the likes of Lennon, Dawson, Parker and Dempsey? How flat would this squad look without Bale.

You`re basically saying we`ll never be back a the top again. And you are probably right.

i think he will. Guardiola is going to Bayern and the ex Barca people now at City probably wont want to work with Mourinho. So one more year of Mancini and then who knows maybe an approach for someone like AVB?8-[
