Fraser Forster

Can anyone tell me a Premier League side who does not pass back to their goalkeeper? I think we actually play back to him far LESS than we do with Vicario. And I also think that in both error moments today, he had more than enough time to make the simple pass across. Look, I back him to lick his wounds and be fine on Sunday. We know he's not as good with his feet and I believe we have made slight alterations to the angles we use when passing to him and the frequency. Both of those passes have nothing to do with 'Ange' they're perfectly reasonable passes if you want to not just give the ball up cheaply by punting it.

I think its more a case of rather than going on instinct, a voice in his head is saying 'Ange wants you do do this', and the deliberation is enough to result in a brick show. I.e. it's not natural at the moment.

As a senior pro he has the maturity to make the call. I don't disagree with you, but I'd also say that Ange is not quite Conte when it comes to specific in-game rigidity. My biggest concern is that Forster had such indecision when we were 3-0 up. I think he simply lost focus. There were several far tighter moments in the first-half and he was OK.

I couldn't be more angrier with Ange right now. We have a 36 year old keeper who knows instinctively what to do in both of those situations when you're 3-0 up. 5 years ago, Forster would have just done the right thing. In tonight's game it was so clear that he's had his head polluted with the BS from Ange's coaching staff and thinks he needs to be an Ederson in those moments.

The reason those 2 goals went in were down to the manager and his fanaticism on how this simple game should be played.

I hope Forster ignores his manager and the coaching staff from this point onwards and goes back to the way he used to keep goal. Fraser should be as angry as I am with Ange tonight.

Ange needs to find that winning "do what it takes" mentality at this level. Tonight he got away with it.

We did what it took to win?

I think that's on Fraser mate. He's managed every game since Vic's injury to NOT do what he did tonight. HE needs to take responsibility, and if that means in the moment, on the pitch because he isn't feeling right for whatever reason, then all good.

If anyone should get flack for this it's the club thinking that having only one keeper who can really play his way is enough!!!!

I blame Mourinho!

United thought that with their keeper and they paid decent money for him… he is the reason we are through and Forster actual save form the header is too
He made mistakes… hey it happens
Agreed. Plus - the decision to put him in the EL squad instead of Spence has been fully vindicated. But we can still upgrade on him with someone who is more comfortable on the ball.

Nope, not a chance mate. This BS from Ange needs to stop.

After those 2 incidences with Fraser acting totally unnaturally, Porro was caught high and wide, and only some fitness and intelligence from Sarr saved us from being totally opened up and 3-3. Porro couldn't get back. He was just doing what he had been coached. Attack, attack, attack. Total BS. You're 3-2 up and you're about to go into a semi-final of the cup.

Tonight was Ange being sexy letting them back in, nothing else. He totally blotted his copybook with me tonight. He needs to grow up quickly in this league. I hope guys like Munn are able to say the right things to him and get his head straight.

Forster was more than adequate to see this fixture out. The pollution from the coaches on the training ground was the root cause. Nothing else.

Disagree 100%.
We were shutting that game down very effectively at 3-0, in fact it was beginning to resemble the Soton second-half.
As for the moment you're describing re: Porro, that does not happen if the two stupid mistakes do not send jitters throughout the side - a tired side I might add.
He withdrew Maddison and got Bergvall on. He had no-one else!!!!
I could not disagree more with your 'pollution' line at the end. If Forster keeps his head (or even his goal in those two moments) then none of it happens.

(our love affair could not last LOL)
