The PM’s press conference this evening seemed to suggest that a big third wave is likely here.
 
So presumably Levy hangs on in there until enough of the other clubs have pulled out to make the ESL project collapse. And then sues all the clubs that jumped early for all the revenue/launch funds we will be missing out on, and money we have (needlessly) wasted on signing up.

(Whoever didn't do their market research due diligence is in trouble).

Can’t see what they can be punished for if they pull out. Bringing the game into disrepute. I guess is the only thing. But what levels of punishment that can actually dish out would be interesting.

If they've moved onto racism then the volume will significantly fall, the story will change again soon, and there won't be any frontline pundits shouting aobut how they aren't going to shut up about the problem until something is done.

Exactly this. How can you complain about City or Chelsea and then support the ESL it's same fudging thing.

My hunch is that it was led by the teams with US owners plus those who have racked up massive debts paying obscene salaries and transfer fees for years in uncompetitive leagues with low tv incomes (Real, Juve and Barca) and the rest most likely went along for fear of missing out.

Really the English teams don't need it, sure there's been a hit but the league is healthy, competitive, brings in big tv money both domestically and overseas and has full stadiums with good atmospheres. Mostly they'd be playing themselves anyway.

Real and Barca are both in ridiculous debt with crumbling stadiums - big problems for them ahead. I mean Bale was on what 600K a week apparently and sitting on the bench, they paid 100m for Hazard at 29 and probably paying him similar amounts.
