European Super League - Dead on arrival

I don’t think we can be on any moral high horses after our part in this fiasco.

Why not?

The statement from Pep G basically saying free competition is vital, like city are some shining light of fairness having oiled the club to the tune of a billion pounds!

Their hypocrisy should be the target of any fallout. We had to get involved, we don’t have the luxury of subsidy from oil moguls.

I know he owns 30% but Lewis is the majority shareholder as far as I’m aware. If Lewis wants him out I’d sure he has the controlling interest to do so.
I don’t think he has
And I don’t think he cares either
But it would cost him about £500m to buy him out

Someone needs to take the blame surely if we're to save some face, or maybe that's just me thinking primitively.

Have we lost face?

At what point have ENIC been about anything other than business? The decision made here was from the same logical system that has dragged us into contention for such things.

However what weight does a league without Chelsea, Emirates Marketing Project, Munich, PSG have?
They will jump on
There already part of the collective that play in the summer tournaments
Thsi wasn’t ever coming out yet
It was found out by the times so go out before it was fully developed

If we have lost face? Have you not seen the football news the past 24 hours? Everyone who's remotely interested in football have quite clearly without even trying to sugarcoat stated that they see the clubs involved in this as scum, below even what they'd expect, greedy. We've tried creating our own unfair playing ground. Of course we've lost face. We're going to be met by disdain and laughter by the rest of the teams in the league unless we spacegoat someone and apologise to the rest of the league if this falls apart now.

Will be interesting for the legal ramifications, one would assume that the clubs signed something to agree to this twenty three year guff.

We’d have moved to Stratford if it was the better deal, I have no doubt about that.

Sure, if they ignore the fact that we couldn’t afford to say no.

I
“This” as in a land grab by a few clubs for ultimate power in football most definitely has gone away.

For sure European competition needs a shake up. But perhaps some owners will need to walk away from their disastrous models and structures with less cash than they had banked on.
It’s the second time this season that it’s been attempted in one shape or form
It’s gonna happen one way or another

The whole vaccine [emoji382] thing is really crucial too.

If the UK manages to stay open and keep an agile vaccine program ahead of Europe, large UK clubs will have an extra 100m over continental rivals.

You have ticket sales, corporate hospitality, increased shop sales, in our case other music and sporting events. How quickly events start back up will be crucial.

I think the ESL probably only got serious when clubs realised next season could be impacted and not necessarily back to normal. The likes of United, RM, Barca are used to having the extra 100m a year. It’s effectively spent already. They can carry the loss for a year but two years and they are in trouble. At least with us, we haven’t had a chance to spend our increased revenue too much.

Only way this thing (ie bad PR) might usually be expected to hit you would be commerically. However
- its noticeable that sponsors have been silent over the last 48 hours...none pulling out of agreements or saying anything
- grounds will be at capacity next year - it wont impact ticket sales
- will it impact shirt sales etc any more than the grim last 17 months? A new manager with a bit of positivity might be ideal to counter it even if there was any!

So I'm struggling to see how this would impact us negatively
