Etienne Capoue

He could turn out to be a Yaya Toure or a Didier Zokora. We don't know. He looks accomplished. Sharp passing, big and rangy. I hope we keep him, but he's too good to sit on the bench.

if capoue goes i'd like to see him stay in the epl ... such a classy player, alongside yaya toure etc, would help bring up the quality of football in England, and show up the likes of all the charlie adams currently plying the league with their get-the-player-with-the-ball mentality

We should loan him to Man Utd as we have played them twice.

and hope we finish above them and that he can help them beat our other rivals.

when I wake up this will probably seem like a silly idea.

He may do that, then again he may end up helping them win other games they would otherwise lose and then they may finish ahead of us

I think it would be madness to get rid, sandro has a habit of getting injured and sometimes you want 2 players like that in there together anyway

Sandro is injured and he's not getting games. Capoue is not going to stick around to only feature against the top four away from home.

Etienne Capoue earns some pocket money on the side at Hotspur Way...

How would people describe his performance against Saudi Sportswashing Machine then? I missed the game. According to WhoScored he made 4 tackles and 9 interceptions - pretty impressive numbers and reflective of his first couple of appearances for us - did he actually look that dominant defensively?

He was excellent, I thought. I watched the match again on the Sky repeat and he was even more involved than I remembered. Easily his best performance in a long time.

unsung hero. literally plugged that hole in front of the CBs and allowed both bentaleb and paulinho freedom to good effect.

he's like a michael carrick, to be appreciated only when he's gone. to me overall he is on par to sandro, without the close quarters magic tackling, but better and quicker to turn possession into attack.

[h=2]2) Capoue or Sandro in front of the back four is necessary[/h]Against Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Capoue had a very important job. He had to keep his back four from getting caught in no man’s land against numbers, and to allow his fellow midfielders to support Adebayor and Lennon more in attack. That plan worked out perfectly as Capoue’s defensive ability almost led to the resurgence in the Tottenham attack as 6 players attack Saudi Sportswashing Machine on the counter at times. Capoue was solid all game long and his performance last night should give a clear idea to Tim Sherwood. He must play a holding midfielder against any opposition but especially the big teams Spurs will face in 3 weeks time. Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all have great attacking power and Spurs can’t rely on young Nabil Bentaleb to keep out all of those teams. Capoue, and Sandro when he returns, will provide the defensive insurance to the attackers and allow them to focus on the attacking side of the game only.

Did Capoue play DM in France honest question? He looks totally lost on positioning and especially today I noticed on 4 or 5 occasions when we had no cover behind him he would dive into a challenge get beat easily and they were off to the races

Almost certain that he did based on what people have been saying on here and what I've read about it.

Looked lost against Dnipro and was involved in most of the chances Saudi Sportswashing Machine got against us, will have to pick it up and quickly if he wants to get games for the rest of the season. Shame as signs were very promising early this season, looked quality not that long ago.

Another one that it will be interesting to see what happens with come the summer.
