Erik Lamela (announced by Roma p.41)

Re: Erik Lamela

This sounds like Levy alright.

Italian expert Paolo Bandini on Lamela:

"From what I was hearing two days ago, I thought this deal would be done by now, but it sounds like the various parties (Tottenham, Roma, Lamela) are still talking. It has been suggested in Italy that Roma are the ones pushing this deal, as they still need to do more to balance books even with Marquinhos and Osvaldo leaving. If that is the case, it might be that Baldini is trying to push the price down a little"

Re: Erik Lamela

From what i've seen, Lamela plays on the right side correct? So how realistically is this a replacement for Bale who was largely effective either bombing down the left or in the hole centrally. We already have Lennon and Townsend to cover that side.

(See chants of "he plays on the left, he plays on the leeeeeeeeft")

Will.I.Ain't however, is a lefty and therefore was our lined up replacement of sorts.

Re: Erik Lamela

sounds like any chairman with his head screwed on

sounds like an opportunity for someone else to come in ... dont tell me he has done his medical is all ....arrrrrggggghhhh the world of paranoia i cant live here anymore ... one transfer ballsed up so from now on this will be my only logic!!!!!!!

Bale's strength was cutting in on his left foot and scoring. AVB freed him from the left side and he started many games centrally, but he also played on the right too. There was an occasion against Emirates Marketing Project at home last season where he was devastatingly good from the right hand side. The days of him going up and down the left flank are long gone.

Lamela plays on the right but has also played through the centre (going on reports). He is 6ft, fast and scores goals (15 in serie A last season) with a good left foot. He, not Willian, is the Bale replacement.

Re: Erik Lamela

Still no photos?

Suggestion, why don't we fly the doctors out and then we negotiate in the country of the club involved and have the medical there, too?

He can play on the left, right and through the middle

Re: Erik Lamela

Bale essentially stopped playing on the left relatively early last season.

Most people assumed that a move to 4-3-3 would see Bale play most of the time from the right. 4-2-3-1 would see him play in the hole or on the right. But either way with a lot of freedom to move. Lamela seems like a perfect replacement.

Either way it's less about a direct like for like replacement and more about finding the best players to improve our team and squad.

Re: Erik Lamela

and you've seen a decent amount of lamela too i take it

what about pjanic ...how much of him have you seen?

and dzagoev...how much of him have you seen

Both Pjanic and dzagoev play deeper than the 'no 10' role which we need to fill don't they?
