Eric Dier

What do people think of Dier these days? Obviously hugely important to us. Seems like he has gradually become less and less aggressive though - standing off rather than trying to win the ball (has won less than 2 tackles per PL game now statistically). Can't help but want to see a little more aggression and urgency sometimes in closing down shots and winning the ball back, but I guess his style is down to Poch, and it's hard to argue when you look at our defensive record!

Thoughts?

To be clear I'm not moaning or criticising - indeed he is probably my favourite player - I just find it interesting that he seems to be playing more like Carrick than Sandro, when originally he seemed a bit more like the latter.

Think the yellow card situation has hindered him a little bit recently. At the start of the season he was arguably our best player, his form dropped around Christmas and the last couple of months he's been getting better again, just get the cards wiped off and we could see him playing with a bit more aggression again.

I'd give him an 8 out of 10 for his season overall so far, very impressive.

I want the muslim sounding german guy from that team I aint even going to try and spell or pronounce. I have never seen him play but I am not being sarky here I like a foreign signing or two. I am so proud of the youth system but I want a ready made back up for dier or someone who is going to push him on.

The youth thing has made me love Poch but a couple of quality signings from abroad and a few push ups like CCV and Pritchard and we will fcuk everyone next year,

If we had Dembele, Dier and another at their level, ideally with a combination of both their strength it wouldn't be immense

None of the higher rated youngsters look anywhere near ready and Mason/bentelab and Caroll all need to be a big better for where we're going as a team

Get that player in, another striker and ideally and upgrade on Chadli and we will be a hell of a side again next season

Ozil?

But on a serious point Mason should have started against Liverpool if Dier wasn't gonna put in a single tackle all game.

Granit Xhaka if we could get him would be immense but if the figures bandied about are true then no chance. Witsel coming to add to the Belgian contingent would give us some more depth in those deep midfield areas.

We just need to make sure that our core is strong even if Dembele or Dier is out. Personally, I would move on Carroll and Bentaleb if we were able to get good money on them and buy a seasoned and experienced pro to compliment that area in our squad.

Agree with all of this but not fussed one bit about having an experienced and season pro... Dier isn't experienced and has been excellent

Kante is another example of an inexperienced player delivering a very very high level

Most important thing is that it's a player that suits the style and philosophy we now play

Lars Bender as the replacement for Dier
Cant replace Dembele he is a freak, but confident Mason, Bentaleb can play there, just had injury ravaged seasons, possible Witzel
Dembele from Fulham
Berahino from West Brom

Out
Omanah for a 6 month loan to a decent prem league team

Think that is all we will see and probably all we need

Possibly one other proven bit of quality if they become available and fit the criteria, Gotze or anyone from dortmunds team

Now is not the time to rebuild. Same team for 3years please

Well, who would consider Leicester as a loan club for such as Josh ?.

They may look to expand their squad, and someone with PL time in a high functioning squad would appeal to them. For us, he may get CL time with them.

I would like him to start games, be in a progressive team and probably not in a relegation scrap.
Just looked through the table and i have no idea who is mid-table next year. Maybe a top tier championship team is a better idea, bit like pritchard.

Ledley rarely had to make a tackle, you know. The best defending's usually done outside the practice of tackling itself (although, having said that, a good tackle has all sorts of ancillary effects on team and crowd morale that some of the proponents of contact-less defending sometimes overlook).
