Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

That was pretty much what I tried to say. I think.

Very few players are bought as the choice of one single person, but if a player is seen as a good investment (low fee, higly talented etc.) he will be pursued even if the manager hasn't asked for him. He will most likely outlast the manager anyway and is worth more to the club.

But, if I remember correctly, Ade is still on seriously formidable wages, and did cost an estimated 15 million quid, did he not? Hardly a low investment, and hardly one you would make without the backing of your manager.

Depends on what other alternatives we had. I'm not talking about Ade specifically, just saying it's far to easy to try and blame the manager/DoF/chairman for buys that you don't agree with while attributing all the good ones to one of the others.

5 million pounds paid for player i thought. not including his wages of which we split with city?

I thought Ade looked good against Villa, almost scored against Chelsea but looked a bit rusty. He did some good things and some bad things. He ain't match fit (obviously) but I don't like all this rumour stuff.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just media bs based on his history? He's been injured and is just coming back. He's had two good sub aperances but needs match fitnes, I'm sure he'll be playing alot more as the season goes on.

I think quite a few people suspected that Second Season Syndrome might be an issue with him so they were primed for it, and his shortage of appearances thus far, injury questions notwithstanding, has just stoked the fire.

He got injured at the worst possible time tbh. If he had been fit he would have had at least a couple of starts in europa/league cup.

It was unfortunate.

Andre Villas Boas has warned frustrated striker Emmanuel Adebayor that his disappointment at being out of the side will continue and he will not be allowed to leave in January.

Adebayor is yet to start a game for Spurs since he signed a permanent deal at the club after a successful loan period last season, but due to the form on Jermaine Defoe he has had to settle for a place on the bench.

The former Arsenal man is set to start tomorrow night's Europa League clash with NK Maribor but will be replaced by the inform Defoe for Sunday's Premier League meeting with Southampton.

“Every player wants to play and at the moment we’re using one striker and Defoe is doing extremely well,” said Villas-Boas. “At the moment, Adebayor is in contention for games where we play two strikers.

“He’s done extremely well in the games that he has come on but we have not found comfort in a formation with two strikers yet. In the future when we rotate the strikers he will be back in contention. But I don’t think the club will be willing to let anybody go in January. Ade and I speak every day. Is he comfortable with the situation? Yes, I think so.”

weird, and no wonder Ade has the hump

AVB has generally been excellent when dealing with the media so far but this statement is very weird and you can see why Ade would be frustrated. He's basically saying Ade isn't gonna get a look in until we go with 2 up front which will probably be never? i mean why put out such a statement. He won't leave in Jan because the chairman won't let him? nothing to do with AVB actually wanting to keep him...hmmm this is bad.

I saw the interview on sky today, its not as bad as it looks. Obviously putting into context of that article with a slightly negative spurs bias is going to make us look bad.

thats the crux. AVB never said he opposes Ade leaving, its the chairman/club that would prevent it happening. Its pretty clear there are problems
