Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Levy should play hard ball with Ade. Not a lot (more) to lose and possibly much to gain. If he can shift Crapoo and Pauline, then anything is possible.

I don't understand your approach to negotiating. Pay the asking price for targets at the beginning of the window and play hard ball over one of the most difficult players to shift in the league

It has been pretty widely reported, if its only a wild rumour and idle speculation then its caught on very well.

I think with Tim the guy is his own biggest fan, if you had an ego competition between him and Brendan Rodgers it would be a struggle to find a winner, he backs himself to get the best out of Ade when no-one else can.
Well he got the best out of Ade last time so why wouldn't he think that?

Are you kidding??? Sherwood's CV is looking just fine right now

- he's walked into two clubs in mid season turmoil and produced an instant uptick using existing players, with a good 2nd half run and attractive football
- there will always be a mid tier club feeling a little squeaky bum time at mid season
- No matter how this season turns out, he can play the club sold my two best players and didn't re-invest excuse

Look at the managers in the PL over the last 3-5 years, I'm not a TS fan, but he's a better option than quite a few.

Re my earlier comment, I have no ITK on the situation, just it seems clear (from speculation) that TS wants Ade, and his ego typically forces him to get his way or else ...

I think when he retires, his management cv is gonna look backwards, spurs, villa, Norwich, Wycombe, grays athletic...

The guy has had just a few issues since that time though. Big question over whether he still has it.

Maybe, point is you're making out Sherwood to have some kind of arrogance for thinking he can get the best out of Adebayor when the fact is he has proven in the past he can.

Just another pointless dig at Sherwood for no real reason.....

The arrogance is the belief that he can get something out of Ade over more than a short space of time when he has a point to prove.

No doubt he'll play a blinder against us and probably for the first few matches of the season to prove a point. Then he'll fancy a little holiday and fvck off somewhere for a few months.

Let's hope their physios are good, because we never did find out how to treat that AwayMatchInEuropeItis that he kept picking up in training on Mondays.

Considering its reported Villa want him on a loan deal, how do you work that out?

So at best he will do his 1 season wonder routine to get himself another contract!

The sooner he is Villas problem and not ours the better.

A lot of things are reported. I've seen as many reports that they want to buy him as I have saying they want to loan him.

Common sense suggests they won't loan him - he's a free agent in a year and they don't want to pay out massive wages and begin to rely on a player that can (and will) walk in 12 months. I suspect we'll end up giving him away on the basis that we have no contractual obligation to Ade.

did he get the best out of Ade or did his time in charge just happen to coincide with Ade's pique of interest in playing?

i'm not sure any manager can take credit for any of Ade's patches of form, be they good or bad, the bloke is an enigma

I think that is all just a little too convenient really. Also I don't think that Adebayor is particularly difficult too work out really. He seems to perform when he is told and shown that he is the main man and he fails to perform when he is used merely as a back-up player. I would imagine that he will definitely be the main man if he goes to Villa and, as such he will probably perform pretty well for them.

Er, the fact you don't understand is more your issue than mine. I have a history of successful negotiations involving multi-million pound deals on my CV. Why do you find it difficult to comprehend that it is important to pay the right price to secure the deal you really want - and play hardball to effect one that others really want?

What are you suggesting? As we saw with AVB, Ade would not blink an eyelid if sent to train with the kids - as long as he continues to get his payday

Then let him train with the kids. In one years time he will have had almost two seasons without competitive football and will be over 30. He will have had a distinctly chequered recent history of unreliability to say the least. How high will his stock be then?

I feel we have little more to lose given we are stuck with one more year of his wages anyway. The ball is in his court to chose the way he wants to move forward.

Are you kiddin' me? Dude how did you come to that conclusion?

Poch made Adebayor a vice-captain and made him our first choice striker, Soldado was his backup while Kane was playing in just cup games, so what do you think accounts for Adebayor playing so shyte? Don't you think that shows he is the main striker? He lost his place to Kane because he failed to deliver as our first choice striker or would you like to dispute this fact?
