Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

relying on a mercurial figure who has no idea if he is gonna have a good game or stink the place out.

He'll play well for a couple of games. Then be in the side based on a previous performance before being dropped again.

You have literally described every player in football history.....................

My opinion on the guy's place in our team is unchanged.
I didnt want him before he came here on loan.
I never wanted him.

Why?
You reliably play a system in football if you have a guy that sometimes puts in 8/10 performances and sometimes 4/10 performances.
You need some degree of consistency for the team to perform.

Previously we had this with Berbatov. The team collapsed when he wasn't at the races.

I'd rather a team of 7/10 players doing what they are told in a system than relying on a mercurial figure who has no idea if he is gonna have a good game or stink the place out.

This is why I have no interest in Pochettino trying to rehabilitate him. He'll play well for a couple of games. Then be in the side based on a previous performance before being dropped again.

Berbs didn't turn up for the occasional game (1 in 4), Ade can not turn up for an entire season

No just lots of Spurs ones.

Teams that win league titles are built around consistent players who's level doesn't drop below a certain point.

Look at how Berbatov wasn't consistent enough for Ferguson.
We'd would be happy making excuses for hos games where he let the rest of team down.

Mate, the savior stuff wasn't particularly directed at you, it's based on the bunch of people who somehow think Ade is going to do anything but disappoint.

Fair enough -- long-term, I agree with you. But as you say in your other post, get Ade playing for the last part of this season and he'll be useful for us, especially if we don't sign anybody this month. Beyond this season, bin him (and a few other players to boot).

In the meantime though, I really hope our fans don't boo him or any of our other players. We need all the help we can get.

SAF mismanaged Berbatov ..
- He tried to use him as the furthest forward striker (which isn't his best position)
- It was when SAF's template was workhorse side, he bought Berbatov (in my opinion) to inject badly needed flair then tried to use him as said workhorse.
- Berbatov's PL record for Manure is 48 in 108 appearances, actually very good

Anyway, Ade thread, I would ****ing swap Berbatov now for Ade ..

One more question for those at the game last night - I heard a long:

We want you to leave,
We want you to leave,
Blankety blank,
We want you to leave.

I'm hoping the gap was filled with 'archway metals' but honestly couldn't tell... Friends thought it was Adebayor...

**** me .. all a player has to do is not play for a month and everyone somehow goes to "he's a GHod that will save us"

Stop comparing Ade to Soldado, it's irrelevant, saying he's better than Soldado at scoring goals means **** all (as we are all painfully aware).

- The above comparison shows exactly what's wrong with Ade, you chose to show the 54 games he scored 28 goals in. (Mk1 Ade)
- Nice to conveniently leave out the other 36 games that he only scored 7 in (rate of 1 in 5, which is ****ing appalling, Mk2 Ade)

Said it before,

- If Poch can get Mk1 to show up for a month between now and the end of the season, great, lets milk the **** out of it
- But, any belief that Mk1 will be around for more than a short period of time, is just outright stupidity.

I'm saying that your boy soldado who you want to play ahead of ade is actually **** at doing the things you say Ade cant do and ade offers us more in other departments

the best bit is no matter what stat you stroll out for Ade ..solly is 10 times worse in the goals to games ratio, i cant think of a polarised comment worse that "****ing appalling" but if i could solly gets that if Ade gets ****ing appalling

why we shouldnt do what we can to make use of ade is beyond me. but happy to play the even worse soldado :-k

dodgy

The point being, overall his record is passable, but it is that 1 season (or portion of a season) where he score 1 in 2, switch to another season where its 1 in 5. That is not a striker being streaky, its being almost two different players, completely unreliable and not someone a team can be built around.

that would be me having faith in one of our players...okay to think i'm dumb for that. Personally in the Ade departement I have recently come to the conclusion that you're 'off key' for desperately wanting to drop ade when he was in a purple patch playing well for soldado that was having problem hitting water in an ocean

QUOTE]

I will defend the poster as they summerised with:

Adebayor has played 90 league games and scored 35 league goals. 1 league goal every 2.6 league games.

To take your full post, even the best strikers in the world go through games when they don't score goals, but I will judge them on the fact they can score goals as Adebayor has done in two out of the season and half he has been with us.

If Adebayor wasn't Adebayor and came in to the club and had that record people would be more fond, its an attack on him as a person not a player.

I disagree with your last line, there has been enough controversy/drama rumours or otherwise surrounding him during his time here for people to have grown tired of him. Id agree his history compounds all that but i can certainly imagine him being a disliked player had he signed as a fresh-faced unnknown.

How about this stat:

Number of times gone AWOL when that player should have been at work.

Ade 3, Soldado 0

Or number of UEFA away matches where a player mysteriously gets a niggle that improves in time for the next PL match?

Soldado 0, Ade loads.

Or preseasons missed because he couldn't possibly bother his **** for less than £170k per week? Or number of times he's ****ged off our fans? Or the number of times he's cvnted off our manager in front of the rest of the team?

so its the person and not the ability

Love him or hate him, he's one of ours. I might not applaud him or approve of his overall conduct, but I won't boo one of our players if I'm at a game.

Obviously, games like Wednesday's are convenient ones to put him in the shop window. It wasn't like it was the most critical game of the year and, coming against lower-tier opponents, there's a greater margin for error if he screws up. But we'll never sell him, or dare one hope, get a good performance out of him, if he isn't given games to play. This was a good night to run him out. As for the armband, big whoop. His team mates know him best and know who best leads out on the pitch.

All that said, professional Aarse wiper Jeremy Wilson has written a dreadful assessment of Ade's evening in the Tool-a-graph.
