Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

No matter what people think of him, booing one of your own players when he gets substituted off or onto the pitch is ridiculous.

Frustrating again tonight. I know he is short of match practice/fitness etc at the moment, but even earlier in the season I thought the same. I just don't know what he really offers. He's a big man up top but nothing seems to stick, he doesn't win much in the air, he doesn't link any play. I think the main thing that gets me and a lot of the other fans is how he looks so tired from the 1st minute with a complete lack of movement.

Why do you think people attempt to persist with him then? He might not offer what he can a lot of the time, but did you not watch him last season? That's what he CAN offer. I'm not saying he will do it again consistently for us or that we shouldn't maybe look to end this relationship, but to say you don't know what he offers suggests to me you didn't watch at least half of his Spurs career.

On for an hour contributed feck all, in fact he could have been sent off, do I rate him, not even a little bit, would I boo him, never.

hertyid:

Ade was pretty upset after being jeered v Sunderland.
Poch has started him as captain so he can prove everyone wrong.
Seems to be when he is at his best, so fingers crossed we get a performance.

Well, that worked out...

Not a fan but all things considered last night he did ok. I didn't think it was a red card but def a booking. One thing I did notice is that he runs 30 yards to close someone down, gets to within 5 yards of them and stops! It was a risk playing him and mason in the same team after lay offs and it didn't really work.

Glad to see him back and playing

Really proud and pleased of Pochettino for playing him and making him captain

would have been a very sad situation to have a player like Ade gathering dust

the only thing i dont like about ade and solly starting is tha it takes away from Kane being played up front

I'm especially happy that the rumor mongers have been shut down about the huge disruptive influnece Ade is supposed to be

Definitely a player that is attacked by all based on little or no facts.

The facts I know about him from what I have seen, seems decent, funny (remember the MOM award with Eriksen) bloke. In two out of 3 seasons he has averaged a goal every other game.

I think we treat him unfairly and I was embarrassed with the jeers he had last night, people should be ashamed

"A goal every other game." Which premier League season was that? I want to know, because I must have missed it. This guy has a pattern, he goes on a little run of scoring and then shuts up shop. Given the money he has been on, He's performances have been scandalous

The season he played under Harry he was 1 in 2 -- 17 league goals in 33 league games.

The Sherwood season, he was 1 in 2 -- 11 league goals in 21 league games.

To compare, Soldado has played 42 league games and scored 7 league goals. 1 league goal every 6 league games.

Adebayor has played 90 league games and scored 35 league goals. 1 league goal every 2.6 league games.

*edit* also, a comparison re. value for money. Adebayor, including wages, has cost about £25m. Soldado cost around that with transfer fee alone.

He was terrible to start with last night but got better. His problem was just that he was too static. He stood being marked by the CB, and wasn't making runs or coming towards the ball. Mason and Stambouli were breaking with the ball and there was just nothing happening in front of them. We really missed the mobility and movement of Kane or Soldado in that position.

The crowd were pretty disgraceful though - being booed before he even stepped on the pitch. I rate Ade and have patience towards him, but he needs to do a lot to his game to adapt to the new Poch style.

**** me .. all a player has to do is not play for a month and everyone somehow goes to "he's a GHod that will save us"

Stop comparing Ade to Soldado, it's irrelevant, saying he's better than Soldado at scoring goals means **** all (as we are all painfully aware).

- The above comparison shows exactly what's wrong with Ade, you chose to show the 54 games he scored 28 goals in. (Mk1 Ade)
- Nice to conveniently leave out the other 36 games that he only scored 7 in (rate of 1 in 5, which is ****ing appalling, Mk2 Ade)

Said it before,

- If Poch can get Mk1 to show up for a month between now and the end of the season, great, lets milk the **** out of it
- But, any belief that Mk1 will be around for more than a short period of time, is just outright stupidity.

Only played last night IMO to put in shop window. The captaincy is a facarde to make people believe that all is well as if they played him and not made him captain then questions would be asked why he wasn't and therefore the stuff that has happened would need to be dealt with in the media instead of keeping everything in house.

it has backfired. We are stuck with him. I'd rather promote a youngster and send Ade to stay with BAE for the next 4 months.

I hope Chadli returns soon.

I will defend the poster as they summerised with:

Adebayor has played 90 league games and scored 35 league goals. 1 league goal every 2.6 league games.

To take your full post, even the best strikers in the world go through games when they don't score goals, but I will judge them on the fact they can score goals as Adebayor has done in two out of the season and half he has been with us.

If Adebayor wasn't Adebayor and came in to the club and had that record people would be more fond, its an attack on him as a person not a player.

Stop foaming at the mouth ffs.

Nobody thinks he's going to save us. The comparison to Soldado's output is relevant, because they play the same position and have both cost the club many millions of pounds. I haven't 'conveniently' left anything out, I have listed all of Ade's games and all of Soldado's (league games for both). A poster asked what season Ade was 1 in 2, and I posted both seasons. Is that clear enough for you?

Your last point, I tend to agree with.

Just to point out

this Ade thing is long past caring about goal ratio stat bull****, it's about the person now. Actually, when hasn't it been about the person.

Anyway... back to work so I can feed my family and pay the bills. Tonight we are having jackets potatoes grown by me.. with a choice of toppings.. in case your wondering.

My opinion on the guy's place in our team is unchanged.
I didnt want him before he came here on loan.
I never wanted him.

Why?
You reliably play a system in football if you have a guy that sometimes puts in 8/10 performances and sometimes 4/10 performances.
You need some degree of consistency for the team to perform.

Previously we had this with Berbatov. The team collapsed when he wasn't at the races.

I'd rather a team of 7/10 players doing what they are told in a system than relying on a mercurial figure who has no idea if he is gonna have a good game or stink the place out.

This is why I have no interest in Pochettino trying to rehabilitate him. He'll play well for a couple of games. Then be in the side based on a previous performance before being dropped again.

The point being, overall his record is passable, but it is that 1 season (or portion of a season) where he score 1 in 2, switch to another season where its 1 in 5. That is not a striker being streaky, its being almost two different players, completely unreliable and not someone a team can be built around.

Mate, the savior stuff wasn't particularly directed at you, it's based on the bunch of people who somehow think Ade is going to do anything but disappoint.
