Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Re: Official - BAE

I think Scara is half right, is malaria generally an entirely avoidable disease? no, is it an entirely avoidable disease to a 200k a week professional footballer, undoubtedly

you want to see your family, spend a days wages and fly them to you

I now think you are on a wind up? I honestly cannot believe you are really being so daft or small minded. I figure you are laughing at me from behind your keyboards for taking your silly argument so seriously. Good one, you got me

Re: Official - BAE

If you like though, let's make this not about him getting sick. Instead, why don't we just wish he'd find it in himself to turn up to just one whole preseason.

And there it is...the real reason behind this stupid argument.

Re: Official - BAE

Like I said earlier in the thread, some people just have a habit of not turning up.

2011 (on loan) - signs on about the 25th of August.

2012 - signs on the 21st of August.

2013 - for the life of me I can't remember and google is being crap.

2014 - has malaria.

I'm sure you can fill in the missing year for me (google is being difficult), but You can't really blame ade for any of those bar 2013.

2012 was because he was holding City to random over his wage demands wasn't it?

So he's not allowed to try and get the best deal for himself in any move because?

Seems quite logical and sensible that he wants to do that. Would anyone here want higher wages for what they do? I can't really criticise him for something that everyone on this forum would do. That would be a bit hypocritical.

We were offering him a more than adequate wage. He had no reason to try and squeeze money out of City when he had no intention of playing for them.

Then again, I suppose that's the story of his career - taking a lot of money for doing the minimum possible or often less.

Were we? As I said previously. Who wouldn't want to be paid more? He had every reason to try and squeeze more out of city. He held all of the cards, you can't seriously tell me you wouldn't have done the same in his position.

An adequate wage? If you deem a 50ish percent pay cut as adequate. Would you be happy to move jobs on significantly less salary than you earn now?

Media sources suggest that adebayor donates a lot of money to charity, so yes. He's obviously such a greedy ****er.

I'm afraid I don't see it. There are many criticisms that can be levelled at adebayor in terms of his footballing ability and the inconsistency of his performances. Yet you seem to take great delight in trying to demonise the man himself. It's like a personal vendetta, did he do you wrong in a past life?

Re: Official - Adebayor

Taking a pay cut from £30k to £15k would hurt me. £200k to £100k? Not so much. Like most of them Ade is a mercenary.

Re: Official - Adebayor

Roy when did you last earn £200k? How do you know that dropping down to £100k wouldn't hurt you?

Footballers live expensive lifestyles. If you earn that sort of money for 4, 5 years, then have to drop it by half, it would be a culture shock. Same as dropping £30k to £15k would.

:ross:

Sorry aberyid you're a very good poster I don't mean to laugh but trying to defend them with 'They live very expensive lifestyles' did make me chuckle. The idea of 'only' being able to **** £100k up the wall every week is quite funny!!

Re: Official - Adebayor

Also, you can't compare footballers to normal human beings by claiming the drop in salary would be the same.

Re: Official - Adebayor

2013 his brother died. Clearly pre-planned.

Ah, I'd forgotten that. Good call.

The discussion isn't really about whether adebayor is worth 200k. Or even whether he could survive on 100k.

Ask yourselves this. If you were on 100k, and you held all the cards to a likely 100k increase. Would you do it? Adebayor went with yes. He fought his corner as it is his right to do.

Why should all of us have our right to fight for a higher salary, and then deny adebayor that same right?

Re: Official - Adebayor

He's not perfect but he's not the monster some people make him out to be. He's also our best centre forward, and on his day world class. So he played for Arsenal, big deal. He's also stuck it up them big time since. Massive respect for him for getting WHL singing his name last year after the abuse he got the season before, takes some character that.

Re: Official - Adebayor

With our strike forces goal rate up to AVB's departure last season we would have sung his mothers name if we had played her up front.

We all know what he can do on his day but we also know that at some stage this season there will be an 'Adebayor is on his period' moment. You can put your house on it. It may last a game or two or it may last six months.

Would love us to sign a proven (and reliable) striker before the season starts. We don't know if Soldado will hit form. We don't know if Kane can make the step up. We dont know what Adebayor will turn up each game.

I know any signing is a gamble but I would just love to go into a season for once having some confidence in our strike force. I haven't had that since the days of Keane and Berbatov.

Any decent human being wouldn't as he was no longer working for them. As I said though, he often takes a lot of money from us for doing as little as he does for City, sometimes even on the pitch.

How much is a lot. Is his proportion like you or I having a £50 direct debit set up? Or more like Bill Gates giving half his wealth away?

Trust me, I take no delight in Ade's inability to be professional about his career. I was a huge supporter of getting him in on loan at first. I laughed at Arsenal and City fans when he performed all season and we bought him for a snip. I would take great delight in him finding it in himself to grace us with his presence for a single preseason, and for him to spend more than a handful of matches in a season playing at least even close to the level of his clearly abundant ability.

Sadly, unless Poch has some magic "make people give a fvck" wand I don't see it happening.

At least your now being honest - this isnt about malaria its about it being a useful stick to hit Ade with.
