Dejan Kulusevski

Very very underated player by some of our fans imo. He has a great touch on the ball and quick feet. Wasted our wide imo but through the middle of the pitch he is a very important player for us.

The piece everyone misses with him (it's a thing some players have), he can be utter brick (he was poor for a stretch at the back end of last season), and somehow ends up involved in every goal, still creates chances.

Wide in an Ange system doesn't suit him, he works well in tight spaces, very physical, both anticipates and knows where others are, can pass or be the goal threat himself. With him and Solanke defenders will get bullied for 90 minutes.

The interesting piece is the we can play him and Maddison, it lifts our creativity and makes it harder for teams to nullify Maddison (we saw some of that last season).

The challenge is it puts more pressure on Bentancur/Biss behind them, although I feel Ange is adjusting slightly (FBs seem slightly less suicidal? and in certain games, seems even the wingers come back a little)

He works well and doesn't work well in tight spaces, part of why the wide role in this system doesn't suit him as much.

He can get out of tight spaces through trickery, strength and (at times) fantastic timing. But that's the exception, not the rule imo. He's not a dribbler as such and often struggles in tight spaces if isolated.

He needs movement and players to combine with around him to work well in tight spaces. Part of what makes him so good in this current role. Solanke ahead of him, Johnson wide, Maddison often inside, Bentancur/Bissouma behind him. Lots of movement, creating a bit of space for him and giving him players to combine with.

That's also when he can use his skill and strength one vs one because he doesn't become predictable for defenders. They have to worry both about the creative pass, combination play and him getting a yard. Whereas out wide with no one overlapping he much easier becomes predictable. And he's not good enough one vs one to be effective at that consistently.

In this role, right now, he's a beast.

He has his flaws but he is still young … but his commitment and ethic is second to none … he has the quality to play in the middle and can be devastating…

Nah he looked quick and almost like had an extra yard of pace
But… his stats for the game were really poor and I was shocked

he only completed just over 2/3 of his passes with 20…..

I would like to see first and second half stats. First half he looked good, second half , from what I could see , very poor, running in quicksand and continually outmuscled.
