Daniel Levy - Chairman

Who knew that when I went to the cup final in 1991 that over the next 34 years all we would win would be just 2 league cups? I figured we would have done better than that. Who knew?

And it feels worse when I consider how expensive our season tickets are.

I believe the signings of teenagers should not inhibit us from signing more established players. I thought idea of building the new stadium was to develop an income making machine so as to invest on the pitch. Maybe I got it wrong
It was. We are.

Net spend last 5 years we're third in the PL, only slightly behind Manu in second. Way behind Chelsea, but... Chelsea.

We're doing that in part by having a low wages to turnover ratio. But we couldn't do this before, no way. And, related to both points above we're doing that without being in the CL most years.

We've been signing teenagers and established players for for quite a few years now. Including this one.

Just that this year we decided to spend a lot of our transfer budget on Gray and Odobert. Gray looks like an excellent decision. Odobert, time will tell, I like him. Could have dropped them, signed Eze instead maybe? Would that have been a better decision?

Sometimes it is not how much you spend but who you spend it on.

Yes and we had major problems in the squad that needed to be addressed. A lack of hg and club trained players. So needed to buy young english players. Which are expensive or take a while to come through.

It's not an issue of backing the manager. It is a failure of bringing through players from our academy for a number of years. Which is partly on those previous managers you mentioned.

Not to the level needed versus the experience leaving I would not say TBH. Was our average age not bought down to the youngest in the league or something?

I am not saying its been ignored but the balance could have been even the slightest bit better
Last two years I count Solanke, Dragusin, Vicario, Maddison, Johnson, VdV and Porro (just within two years by a couple of days). Odobert, Kinsky I guess are debatable. Werner, but he's been poor. Solomon was always injured.

I guess it depends on how one defines "much".

I Would argue some of them did not fall into the experienced ready now camp that I am referring to TBH

Ah, OK. I based my replies on the "ready now" comment. I think all those 7 are, arguably 9 with Kinsky and Odobert.

Experienced, no. That we haven't focused that much on.

I think that makes sense. More experienced, and ready made, usually proven over time. If good enough to be a starter for us those are typically expensive players. And if we're talking about experienced ready made squad options we pretty much only do that if loan/free now it seems (Solomon, Werner).

What I don't get is people not realising the land Tavistock own and built houses on isn't Spurs money. They used the stadium to acquire the ground. But it isn't linked to Tottenham Hotspur Station. It's a complete Fagin of Uncle Joe's and cousin Daniel's shell companies.

This is the guy that is so corrupt he was actually reprimanded under Donald Trump's adminstration! That's actually quite incredible. The only billionaire that got caught so blatantly he got done. That's how corrupt he is. Of course he only copped a fine. But he was sweating his fat arse for a while.

AHH well. I like to write this brick. But I don't really care. I get more satisfaction watching the heroes defend Enic and Levy.
I've been reasonably vocal on here that I would like 'better' owners (by that I mean ones who's primary aim is winning trophies and not merely maximising the value of the asset). I've also been pretty vocal that I would like the club to have a better head honcho than Levy and that I believe the significant salary that we pay our head honcho means that we should be able to find one.

However, you are talking absolute nonsense when it comes to your assertions that money is being siphoned out of THFC by Lewis and/or Levy. Tottenham's finances are all plainly laid out in the accounts every year (accounts that are audited and signed off).

Every percentage point we raise our wages to turnover ratio costs approximately 5.5m per season. Money that probably has to come from transfer spending.

Just a ballpark estimate for how much you would like to see us decrease our transfer spending?
Does it actually have to or is it just that the board would choose to take it from there?

Yep, they may be separated out as "Stadium" "hotel" "Leisure" etc, but they all file under the clubs name and registered to Lilywhite House

From what I can remember there was a couple of properties that Tavistock bought at market value from one of the club subsidiaries.
Yes, the club sold properties to Tavistock at market rate. That was market rate pre planning gain. Though at the point they purchased them it was Tavistock who then took over the risk that there would be non planning gain. At the time the properties were sold it probably made more sense financially for the football club to reduce the value of the assets held and reduce the debt pile than retain higher debts along with higher assets and potential future planning gain.

We are investing on the pitch - you're just unhappy with what they are spending it on?

It's important to get a decent balance.

Can see the argument for skewing a bit more towards the Solanke type deals in the summer that was. But Gray and Bergvall have been too good.
I would carry on in the same way as last summer. The only way we are going to do something properly significant is to bring a young team through that could be dynamite in 2 or 3 years time. Otherwise we're destined to just be a team that wins nothing, finishes 6th or 7th in the PL and has the odd Champions League adventure if a couple of the big clubs have a bad season and we finish 4th/5th as a result.
