Dane Scarlett

I watched Scarlett today.
He seems "OK" but a bit limited in all honesty. If he was signed to a different club, I wouldn't be clamouring for us to buy him.
He doesn't dribble and trick and beat a man, he can't speed past players either. He has a little bit of strength, but not loads. He will lay it off and then get in the box to try to get a header, but he is fairly short compared to modern day giants.
In general he seems a bit 7 or 8 out of 10 in most metrics, rather than having some outstanding metric like pace or shot or cunning.
He can finish, like today. He can find space, but in general play he just seems a bit meh.
I'd love it if he blossoms and proves me wrong and becomes a striker capable of playing for a top4 team fighting for the title, but it isn't obvious yet (just like Kane).

If he ends up going with the squad for Thursday's game, I think it will tell us a lot about the last two weeks of the window.

If he plays for Spurs in a UEFA comp, does that preclude him from a second EFL loan?

I actually have no problem Dane being back at the club. He's always given some very respectable performances and plays in the style of Solanke. It's going to be difficult to get a loanee in that can hit the ground running.

My only concerns is that this current setup will see Dane in the treatment room as he adjusts to Ange-ball from his stint at Oxford.

It would, IMO, be a disgrace to throw him into this situation. He is in a criticalm stage of his career - he needs a good loan or sles I think he might be a nearly man.

I'm still in a learning curve with all of our 3 young strikers, but don't have an issue with them rotating between EFL loans and first team. It keeps them connected and makes our manager look at them objectively. Dane was involved as early as the Jose days and played in the ECL. He's been in the mens setup for 3-4 years now. I think he'll be somewhat equipped to deal with being in a 20 man match day squad. He even subbed on for Richi in last season's FA Cup.

As we've already discussed, Ange's lack of subs is a concern to me. If he'll use Dane, then it will be better than the situation we find ourselves in with Ange and his current subs bench.

If the club don't deliver, he will be forced to. I think it would be a bad thing all round. Here's to me being wrong!

Are the club even looking at number 9s though? It would make sense if Richi is on the move in the summer.

More likely, we will land a player like Buonanotte, attack minded and can work the wide areas. Long term bet.

Great question. But I think we're in the short-term loan saloon right now. I suppose we'll see...

Remember when so many were desperate for Mourinho to play Scarlett regularly. And to this day he can’t get a regular game for Oxford. Shows us that supporters don’t always know as much as we think we do.

I genuinely don't recall there ever being a clamouring for Scarlett to be used - if anything there was a skepticism over Mourinhos use of him in that he has a reputation of fielding very young players at clubs a couple of times in order to protect himself from accusations of not using youth enough.
