Teddy Sheringham
He certainly smashed into some tackles on Saturday. One, just outside our own box, he took a while to get back to his feet
I am all in favour of precautionary/preventative measures. Good call Thomas!

I wouldnt risk vdV or Richy on the plastic pitch either, but it doesnt sound like Muani or Davies are ready yetI am all in favour of precautionary/preventative measures. Good call Thomas!

It's definitely gone wrong, it's a good indicator of why we've been where we are over the last decade or so ( so pre Romero of course). The great teams often had a great passer out of the back yes but they're not typically used as the primary play maker.Nothing has 'gone' wrong, he has been one of the best passers in the team for several years. FWIW I don't disagree with you, just pointing out what is a truth for us.

There are only a couple I can of think of historically ie. Koeman and Mathethus (converted CM) and as good as Romero's passing in it's not that level. Both of those players also played in teams littered with alternative quality progressive passing options. So again they were a bonus rather than being the foundation upon which the team play was centred on.
By no means am I complaining about Romero having this ability but it's weird that not he's getting criticism for his passing when the problem actually lies further forward.
I do think Romero being the primary driver is the wrong path to have taken. As I keep saying it should be a bonus not a primary route and that was my point in the first place.Sigh.
I do understand all that.
I am simply pointing out that in context, Romero being a primary driver of all we do is not something 'gone wrong'. It is what we have been doing for a while now.
If you want to debate the merits of such an approach, that is a different discussion. I personally wish we had elite passing from midfield, but we have not had that for some time. Not since Mourinho really. Maddison was a move back towards that dial obviously...
