I think this is the key isnt it mate. We all have a perspective on him and he is certainly 'frameable' in different ways...his replacement however!!!!!

Some revisionism going here for me around Romero's tenure under Ange.
I can certainly remember a lot of commentary on Romero's discipline under Ange. I also remember a lot of stick Romero was getting because he adopted Ange's offside line rather than do what he's done for other clubs and country and use those defensive instincts to stay with a man and even sweep up behind. He had his abilities questioned massively on that. Ange's inability to setup for set pieces in season 1 was also really hard for our captain who took a lot of stick.
That being said, Romero's issues clearly were way more amplified under Frank. On one hand, our captain was going the extra mile to get on the ball and get into many different non-centre-half positions for the team. He was being a leader after taking the reins from Sonny. However, he then lost his head on too many occasions.
Now whether you lay that at Frank's door or suggest that under Ange in season 3 it would have gone the same way, that's all about opinions.
The only shame is that we never saw Romero in a great Spurs team under a great manager. We never really saw him set up for success in a way that you could fix that variable leaving the player to see which direction the player would have gone.
