Cristian Romero

Possibly, but I'll put my head on the block and say that I believe all professionals in the field would recommend that you spend your recovery time from such travel at home as quickly as possible if you can. Between that and the convenience of charter travel (not airports, the ability to choose a schedule which works, the space available) I'd be shocked if sports science suggested that staying an extra half-day versus quick departure would be preferrable.

Yeh anything else is a delay of the inevitable. Say you have 5 days, you spread that as 2 rest, 1 travel 2 rest you are kicking the can down the road, you are far better, if possible to go 1 travel and 4 rest in your home environment.

Easily could have had an assist with a bit nearer receiving play.

Passing was really good, also defended well. Got a couple of hard challenges in towards the end. Happy days.

Yes it is, he is a top player who has taken a lot of unfair criticism [IMO] over the last few weeks. He has not been at his best in recent weeks but you can say the same of a couple of our players.

interesting stat but its like kane having most clearances from corners.... good but that's not his key role

Yep, because Harry was too privileged within the setup to get in where it hurts and mark or block players in the box. It was obvious why a 6'2" bloke would have that stat if he had the luxury of standing at the near post for every corner. It's not naturally where you would have a guy that can head the ball as well as Kane.

I don't see Solanke afforded the same luxury. Last season, when we were without our senior centre halves (before Dragu joined) it was Richarlison in the thick of it that saved us a few goals. He was immense at corner defending.

He is a CB playing in an attacking team so I’d be worried if he wasn’t up there
Bu5 it’s the quality of his passing that’s key and why ange sticks with him
Perhaps would have looked different if adjusted for minutes played and possession. But he'd probably still be up there.

Quality ball playing centre backs is of vital importance to the style we play. With VdV being good, but not great with his passing (excellent ball carrying) Romero's quality on the ball is very important to us.

If/when we sign another centre back him being a very good ball player should be seen as a must have attribute.

Indeed, i know he gets a lot of stick from some fans but he is important for us.

And Argentina.

I love the passion that these South Amercian players have for their international teams.

If the injury is 7-10 days, he'll be clear to play for them by the middle of the month. The rest of his body would have had a 2 week rest as well.

Not just a Romero point

You watch teams like Arsenal and they take absolute pride in how they defend and stopping teams, I just don't think we care about defending as much as we should do and top teams do.

Which may explain us switching off

Can’t keep going on these suicidal high presses without Cheatmode playing to cover that vast space he leaves behind, or a Rodri level CMF who will slot in until he can get back into position.

Even with VdV we so often leave ourselves over loaded at the back. Maybe one of the coaches can remind Ange of his is the English Prem, not the Scottish one.
