Cristian Romero

But the view Deano presented was that Romero could still undergo rehab in London or Enfield where the training ground is. And let’s be real, it’s not like travel arrangements would be an issue like they would be for the rest of us. I’m sure he’s travelling in luxury by private jet. Is sticking around in London for a few more days going to be the difference between him playing getting back to full fitness or not? It just backs up the narrative that he gives more focus and attention to Argentina than he does to us. Honestly, part of me would find it quite funny if he doesn’t manage to get back to the required fitness in time for the World Cup now.
But the club approves and liases on all this stuff, its literally their decision and they have to proactively share all medical history and files for them to get the treatment. So a large portion of anger should be at those that approved it, he hasnt taken a decision and traveled alone off his own back.

At this crossroads in the season with a WC coming up I can see why he gives more attention to Argentina, he cant impact our result here and he can impact his and their chances better elsewhere.

Also TBF I am speaking as much about there being a made up narrative by his agent when its endorsed by the manager of the club

Cuti needed to do his rehab in a warmer climate as it's not hot enough in the UK this week

If Romero is so ruthless about his career and international football, why did he sign the new contract at Spurs? He must have clearly believed in the potential of our club.

Or no one else was interested enough in him to put in a serious bid. Not sure other clubs of a similar, or higher stature, to us have been knocking down our door to target him for a transfer.

How would you feel if it was the captain you were playing under?

I think at that point as someone who has experienced injuries in football, you hope the best for the player, thats just human? We seem to take that out of this as fans IMO

I would want my colleague and fellow pro to have the best chance he has of making the WC, knowing being off the pitch he has no influence on the result

I dont know if this is the case, but some managers actively seperate all injured players from the group, as they see it as bad for morale (they will naturally be low) and psychology (reminding players they arent invincible)

I'd want my captain in the trenches with me considering the magnitude of the game.
And as a leader I'd make sure I was there.

If it was essential I had to go to Argentina for the treatment, I wouldn't be attending some other game - I'd be making sure I could get a Skype connection to call my teammates and ensure I watch the game.

He isn't a leader.
