Contingency planning : When Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

It certainly speaks volumes to what has happened with exiting managers in a recent Spurs culture. All 4 of our last managers have left whilst some very high profile and highly paid players have paid lip service to them and let us fans down. Now we may have not liked those managers but people like me were super critical of guys like the current England and South Korean captains as well as several other senior stars. You could always spot the exceptions who were putting in a shift. I am hoping that the toxic culture in the playing squad was churned out in recent years and this young group WILL be different. That will be a really good sign for our future right?

I think there was an obvious “downing of tools” under Conte, Jose and Poch.

I don’t think we have seen the same under Ange though. The Maddison “same plan” comments are the first sign we have seen of dissent I think.

I'm OK with Ange leaving as a football decision.

I'm not OK with Ange leaving if the players have quit on their manager though. I'd love them all to fight to keep him so we can really see what his tactical system is all about. It will feel a little bit empty if we don't get to see that after waiting so patiently for the injuries and fatigue phase to pass.

I have a feeling the PL games are going to be a challenge from this point.

I think the players have kept playing for him and trying to implement his tactics throughout.

Which I think makes how things have gone even worse. Usually you can point to the players not playing for the manager as a reason why things are going wrong, but this situation is heavily caused by tactics.

I agree with this partially, but still think we cannot under-estimate the effects of injuries on our squad for months, the subsequent 'all back together and struggling for rhythm/match-fitness' factor, and as has been said, the realisation that our entire season essentially rests on two games...then hopefully the next two...then really really hopefully, one more.

- The club has stayed with the manager way longer than anyone would have expected/bet on/can understand

Last couple of weeks, something has changed

- Articles talking about Iriola, Silva, etc.
- The Poch airtime
- Romero's medical comments, Spence (very) slight dig at Ange, the Maddison/Son moment

The club lets these things happen, we know where it goes. Point, Romero has now made that comment more than once, club could have easily pulled him up on the first time, that Spence interview with Rio must have been sanctioned.

we are middle of bottom half now - maybe the players have downed tools and don't even know it. might be a case that everyone wants to play for ange but it isn't really top morale stuff even if they tried their best

The Romero thing is logical. Spurs had done the main part of the injury work and he no doubt got to that point where he needed to do daily activities around the injuries. So no better team to do that than the team in Argentina who are in between national games anyway. Breaks up the monotony for Romero and lets him spend some time at home. Would anyone be surprised if Romero gave these guys (who don't earn that much in the grand scheme of things) a few quid for their troubles?

Anyone would believe that the national medical team fixed Romero because the club team couldn't. I mean, how ridiculous is that?

What is more relevant, if true, is that Romero was only slated to take part in 1 of the 2 international games last week. If that was agreed by both medical teams, clearly Scaloni and Romero thought differently. He's come through unscathed apparently. Normally, the player knows their body best.

Behave. As if the club is trying to put out there a load of manager speculation that will unsettle the manager/squad when we are still in the Europa. Sure, we probably won't be winning it but the club are not going to be doing anything to sabotage that right now.

Articles speculating about managers don't just happen when the club allows, 'Poch airtime' has been going on since he left and the player stuff you refer to is much a do about nothing....

Hate to say it, but there really was.:/
He was doing an impression of Tuchel saying yes to the instruction to "go and ruin the team".
The joke is a normal joke that a football fan makes - agent Poch etc and completely tongue in cheek. Nothing wrong with that.
The salute is pretty stupid. But clearly part of the joke - and not surprising for a man of his age; different times (I recently rewatched all of Only Fools..... and it's pretty awful in places, especially in the 1980s. Harry has never really left 1993).
