clarkson uses the N word

Got to go really no excuses, no one can hate political correctness more then me but how can anyone think you can say that word in this day and age.

unsurprisingly getting jumped on by those looking to further their own careers, predictable how this will go

i was taught it as tigger, which is surprising considering my mother was a keen racist

What I am getting at is that at a similar age to clarkson and from a much more working class background I was not taught it with the N word, so it is as if he has made the concious decision to use that word. Maybe because he is trying to live up to an image he has of himself I do not know.

Yet buy any rap album from the likes of tupac, dre, snoop, 50 cent and its fine to hear the word over and over.....

Its all context with a little hypocrisy thrown in....

Its the way its meant I guess like when Ron Atkinson was sacked by ITV...that was out of order......havent seen the footage so dont know whether it was a flippant remark...or just plain stupidity.....

We have all done/said things we regret.....just saying if he's used it the once and shows no inclanation to be constantly racist then there is no need to hang, draw and quarter the man.....We live in a society where white people cant use the word and black people can bandy it around freely.....

In no way shape or form am I racist....what im saying is a few seconds of saying taboo words doesnt make someone a bad person or neccesarily a racist....he's apologised things move on.

An anachronistic gonad of a man. He deserves to be sacked. We are all paying for his wages, and I personally don't feel comfortable with a racist being paid with my money.

If anyone on here said this at a football match they would be banned and possibly charged. Why can he get away with it?

Nothing will happen though, as he is a close personal friend of David Cameron

"Ordinarily I don't respond to newspaper allegations but on this occasion I feel I must make an exception. A couple of years ago I recorded an item for Top Gear in which I quote the rhyme "eeny, meeny, miny, moe". Of course, I was well aware that in the best-known version of this rhyme there is a racist expression that I was extremely keen to avoid. The full rushes show that I did three takes. In two, I mumbled where the offensive word would normally occur and in the third I replaced it altogether with the word teacher. Now when I viewed this footage several weeks later I realised that in one of the mumbled versions if you listen very carefully with the sound turned right up it did appear that I'd actually used the word I was trying to obscure. I was mortified by this, horrified. It is a word I loathe and I did everything in my power to make sure that that version did not appear in the programme that was transmitted.

"I have here the note that was sent at the time to the production office and it says: 'I didn't use the N-word here but I've just listened through my headphones and it sounds like I did. Is there another take that we could use?'

"Please be assured I did everything in my power to not use that word, as I'm sitting here begging your forgiveness for the fact my efforts obviously weren't quite good enough, thank you."

If you loathe a word, you don't use that word, not use it twice and try to edit it out of existence

Never once actually apologises though. Asks for forgiveness and says he tried to cover it up so we would never find out. Doesn't seem fine to me

He starts by saying he didn't say it, then says he did say it and then doesn't really apologise. Anyway people have been sacked for less. He would only be kept on because of the brand that he is by the BBC.

Also a black person using the word (as stupid as that is) is different from a non-black person using it. You cannot even compare the two scenarios.

Was "nipper" to me I seem to remember, I had no idea until now that it wasn't meant to be that. Learn something new every day and all that.

His last racist remark was news to me too, the slope on the bridge one, had never heard of that.

He says he didn't want to say it, but that it sounded like he did.

Wouldn't you have covered it up in that case? Or would you say "oh, look, here it sounds like I've used a racial slur, better make absolutely sure to air that!"?

I agree that if he's kept on it's probably because of his stature and how important he is to the BBC. That's just the financial nature of such decisions. Cost/benefit.

Clownfoot: Are you saying that you think he's a racist and that he's been keeping it (somewhat?) hidden, but this time he slipped up?

Luton: Agree completely about the difference between a black person and a non-black person using the word.

So he's neither admitting or denying it then.

Is it perfectly plausible to not mean to say something and yet it sounds like you said it.

People listen to static and hear messages from the spirit world or whatever, if you hear their recordings when knowing what to listen for you will hear it. Same with satanic messages in music played backwards etc.

He's denying having intended to say it, whilst admitting that it sounds like he said it.

I remember thinking "did he just say what I think he said?" upon watching that episode last year, which I remember clearly. But that's the whole thing, "what I think he said", not what I actually heard him explicitly say.

These uptight niggas need to just chill the **** out yo!

edit: The irony ^
