clarkson uses the N word

I may get lambasted for this but as far as im concerned, what happens in private stays private. Within reason of course, not alluding to murder or *struggle cuddle* etc. But what happens out of th epublic eye should realy stay out of it.

Im sure we have all had discussions with mates etc indoors talking about whatever.

and no im not racist DUH

But he's still at work

One of his mates might take exception to it, there is legislation against this sort of stuff in the work place too. Broadcasting means his customers hear what he says, not broadcasting means the staff hear it

I think all tv presenters should be replaced by Alan Titchmarsh and Adrian Chiles. They should never ever say anything the least bit divisive or have an opinion on anything. They should be clean cut and not use any rude words.

After 9pm everyone should have to watch Michael Mcintyre.

Zzzzzzz

[Not really defending what clarkson did, but the one show being on tv 24 hours a day would get really boring really fast. I like clarkson because he can be cutting/rude/close to the bone at times and that's a bit of a rarity. When he does cross the line though he is a dingdong.]

That is the version we used throughout childhood, "catch a n*gg*r by his toe"

From about 1979 to 1986 in the Midlands, that is the only version we used, didn't even think about it back then

hate to break it to you Bullet, but you must have been a racist between 79-86, you should have resigned from your paper round and handed yourself in at the nearest police station

well done for becoming a non racist in 87 though

every word that comes out of a persons mouth is a deeply thought out political statement and we should be judged solely on these orations

Ok, couple of shandies to the wind but hey-ho...

The word is either racist or not, simple as that really..

He used it in the context of a rhyme, unless there is concrete proof that he meant it, which means simply that..

Crap I was born in 72 and while I am far from racist I grew up with n....r brown wool and gollywogs and surprise surprise the same rhyme he quoted, does not mean fcuk all tbh as I know the difference of the word in the many uses it can be placed..

He has, imo, quoted an old rhyme and some twunt has decided to profit from the edit that was not broadcast knowing that the rhyme nowadays will cause the weak minded to go ape **** and rant and rave about how racist he now is and omg he should be sacked straight away.

Upto 2010 my gaffer called me Whitey, he was as you guessed black, but did I cry, did I for one instance think omg racist b'stard? No I did not, because a) it did not bother me and b) I knew it was nothing serious. Needless to say some prats would no doubt gone crying to management.....

He used a rhyme which for his generation was the norm, yes times have changed but still if he thinks of it and uses the original wording then so bloody what. He is mearly quoting what he grew up with, not meaning to be racist as today now deems people to be when the word is used in such a way - GHod rest m Grandmas soul cos I recall her using such a term and she was in no way a racist..

Back to the start of the post, the word is either racist or not regardless of context.

Tough one this.

What he said is at best insensitive, at worst racist. But I also believe Clarkson that he was trying to avoid a word ingrained through that rhyme from childhood. Try changing the words to a nursery rhyme you've known all your life, or your favourite song - it's not easy.

That said, Clarkson's a d1ck. He's intentionally a d1ck, he makes a good living out of it. Overall though, anyone who irritates the likes of Polly Toynbee as much as he does has to be worth a decent chunk of our license fee.

Like I said, he's a cnut. Just for that he should be sacked. What a snide, pompous, self-important buffon this twerp is. How did the no-talent get a gig in the media in the first place.

His M.O is to be an entertaining idiot and push the boundaries of political correctness. If it was said then he is in my view a massive idiot, as he knows the consequences of using the word and that it will outrage and offend many people beyond any 'laughs' he thought it might bring. He has lost it with this comment in my view, and I just can't believe a fully grown experienced presenter would do this during filming. It hints at a man who is too big to fail, a 'Golden Boy' who can do as he pleases, which has been great in the past for viewers, but I think even he would be lucky to overcome this latest outcry.

I think he has shown himself to be extremely funny on occasions however I have always been wondering what would bring an end to one of my favourite shows in Top Gear and I think the answer has been provided. Looks like they will save a packet in wages though eh?

Shows how far the media has fallen doesn't it? People used to earn a living in the media by actually having some talent, now they just get by by intentionally being a dingdong and I'm not just referring to Clarkson here. Sad! By the way Scara, he doesn't upset me, I just think he's an embarrassment.

Thing **** me off, alot of black people are like Liverpool fans (always play the victim) I'm sorry but its getting a little ridiculous now. It's 2014 just live with it, its not as if he called anyone it directly.

Journalists have always worked on tv and would seem to have no apparent talent.

Chat show hosts, newsreaders, quiz show hosts - they've been around for as long as tv has, nothing's changed there.

In fact, if you were to find the median talent/skill for all of those on tv over the last couple of years, I'd suggest that Clarkson (as a very successful motoring journalist) would be well towards the talent side.

There are so many things wrong with this post I am at a loss where to start. By the way, we used to say 'tiger'...
