Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

Manchester United are the Barca/Real Madrid of the Premier League. The side that is supported by the media, who the media want to do well and will rarely criticise except in moments where it would be deemed socially inappropriate for them to be criticised. The signings are linked by the media, with the idea that hopefully those players will join. Why does the media have such a vested interest? Well, given the support that the club has in the UK, if the club are successfully then the media creates a higher volume of stories about the club with which to attract the Manchester United followers and to increase the number of viewers, and so the success of the club, or at least the perceived strength of the club, helps the media to bring in extra viewers which helps the strength of the media.

Ok, so maybe that's a conspiracy theory but I can't believe that it's a million miles off of the truth, given the antics that are regularly displayed by certain sections of the media.

There is a lot of truth in that, apart from Madrid they have ( probably) the best media machine in football. It started way back after the Munich tragedy and its got bigger ever since.

I don't see any conspiracy.

Utd are the biggest team in the world. Their brand is apparently recognised by well over a billion people, they're in the top 50 brands in the world, competing with Coca Cola and Microsoft.

Writing about Utd will attract readers from all over the world. I'm actually surprised there isn't more about them in the media - must be a web ad man's wet dream.

One Direction are the sole reason for Manchester United’s stuttering performance against Club America, according to Louis van Gaal.

Morgan Schneiderlin’s header gave United a 1-0 victory in the United States, but Van Gaal has criticised the pop foursome for ruining the CenturyLink Field playing surface.

“The pitch was not good,” said Van Gaal. “It was difficult.

“The first surface was artificial and it had grass over it. It was always moving. It's not easy. You can get injuries. It's a big concern. It was like that last season against Real Madrid in Michigan. It's like this in the USA. These pitches are used for different things.

“Old Trafford is used for football only, not One Direction concerts. Here it's used for entertainment things. The facilities generally are fantastic. They could not be better.

“We have been received very well by Seattle Seahawks and the football club. Everyone is fantastic. But we have to play football on such a pitch. We could not do that and that's important.”

LVG says United need to buy more top name players, what footballing philosophy this man has !!!

Not too sure how reliabile this report is but....
Sticking with Manchester United, and Louis van Gaal has made a record offer for Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller, according to Munich-based TV station Sport1,

The station claims a €100m (around £69.5m) bid has been rejected by Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

With Depay already on board, now is the time for them to sign both Ronaldo and Bale. That would show us what a genius manager he is.

I assume they have spent like that as they couldn't get Bale, if they had him it wouldn't matter who lined up next to him

At this rate, United could have saved themselves a few quid and picked up someone with experience playing football manager on cheat mode ..

No difference to what LVG is trying to do ..
