ERIKSEN 'REMEMBERED LITTLE'

Denmark chief Kasper Hjulmand has revealed Christian Eriksen believes his team-mates were 'feeling worse' than him.

Midfielder Eriksen is said to be stable after receiving CPR following his cardiac arrest against Finland yesterday.

And Hjulmand says the Inter Milan superstar told him: "I think you are feeling worse than I am. I feel as if I'm about to go training now, boys."

Hjulmand also said Eriksen himself is feeling positive.

He added: "Christian is in good spirits and it's a huge relief for the players after all this uncertainty.

"There is no doubt that we have been on the ropes."

Hearing the news and then seeing the incident hit me hard. It feels silly to get upset over someone you have literally no person relationship to, but football creates a feeling of connection. To see him, his wife and his teammates going through that was upsetting.

So glad he’s ok but completely gutted for him that it will likely end his career.

You do have a relationship with him, but you don’t think of it in the same way as someone you know personally
It’s exactly what kind of emotions football can bring and create that connection as you say

It's weird, but true. None of us (probably) really know Christian Eriksen, yet this incident hits us Spurs fans harder than if that same thing happened to a player without an affiliation to the club. Eriksen has brought us so much joy (and a bit of frustration) during his six years at the club. We've cheered his goals, analysed his body language and interviews, debated his ability and - some of us - almost mourned his departure from the club. That creates this connection. It's human nature.

That's why I'm moved by this whole thing, when I imagine how Eriksen must feel now in that hospital bed. He's 29, at the top of his game, reaping the rewards from all those years of hard work and dedication, and then all of it is taken away from him in a heartbeat; or rather by the lack of one. I can't see him ever returning as a top flight footballer, and that must be absolutely heartbreaking for him, because at his age he still would've had 4-5-6 years left at the highest level.

Then again; he could be dead, but he isn't.

He is lucky this happened to him with competent doctors nearby and a major hospital literally a stone's throw away. He lives on as a father and a husband. He is 29, not 22, and has had a career only a tiny fraction of aspiring footballers will have. He is financially secure for the rest of his life and can do whatever he wants to do - except, of course, what he probably wants the most, to continue playing football at the highest level. But quite probably he still doesn't fully realize what he's been through and the ramifications of his heart failure and revival. He surely must be on a rollercoaster of emotions that isn't about to stop just yet.

Truly sickening scenes on Saturday:(

That message of appreciation i posted seemed oddly timely, given it looks like he wont play again (though that should probably the least of his worries tbh)

Get well soon Christian...

Two things:

1) Some absolute crackers in there. What a great player he was for us.
2) Finally a highlight reel without "creative" editing and horrible, horrible music.

Some crucial goals in that bunch too. Winners at Man Utd and Emirates Marketing Project, last minute winners at Hull, Swansea, Palace and home v Brighton, a couple of screamers at Chelsea.

One of the best players in arguably the best Spurs team in 20+ years.

As many have said What a player! Shame how it ended with us but loved watching him play. My favourite moment was watching him score at Wembley vs Real Madrid, magic. Given the intensity of Poch's training and the limits he pushed his players to, makes you wonder how this didn't happen when he was at Spurs.

Luck I guess
He has played his least amount of games this season since his last at Ajax

I think it was mentioned on the Netherlands game that one of their players plays with a defibrillator built into his chest

Medical science is pretty advanced these days

Isn't that just crazy, that a professional athlete can be running around with a heart condition and a built in defib ready to revive him it his heart gives out again

I think its constantly doing the job, rather than being there as a backup, but yeah, absolutely amazing tech, kinda a real life Iron Man.

The heart is a pump
It’s a pump starter basically
The actual tech is simple
The way they use it though is amazing
My mates fits them and pace makers
He is working on one that once it trigger sends data to an app that calls someone

Great post and spot on for us fans, i know s ome will disagree with me but i have always believed he was our best/ most important player for us during his time here and was sorry to see him go.

Wow, that's incredible. From the sadness/shock of Eriksen collapsing, it's inspiring to know that such things are possible.
